Tributes for influencer Yulia Burtseva, who tragically died aged 38 after undergoing a dangerous plastic surgery procedure at a private clinic in Moscow
A popular influencer has tragically died at the age of 38 after undergoing buttock lift surgery. Mother-of-one Yulia Burcheva, who was born in Russia but lived in Italy, suffered a sudden medical emergency shortly after injections during a buttock lift (BBL) operation and could not be saved, Russian media reported.
Yulia, who has thousands of followers on social media, took a heartbreaking video just hours before her death in which she appeared to be smiling and enjoying breakfast at Moscow’s posh Pushkin Café on Sunday. The ‘mumfluencer’ had flown to the Russian capital from Italy, where she lived with her Italian husband and young daughter, the day before the operation, which cost £4,600.

Yulia’s condition took a sharp turn for the worse soon after the procedure – which is said to enlarge her buttocks – according to emergency service sources cited by Russian network MSK1.
Reports say that Yulia went into anaphylactic shock and died quickly afterwards. Mom was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive her.
When news of the tragedy broke, Yulia’s fans flocked to social media, with many unable to understand what had happened given the Russian’s recent Instagram Story. Someone asked “He was pulling stories a few hours ago — is that true?” Another said: “Ten hours earlier she was smiling and happy. This is scary.”
Meanwhile, other fans questioned the dangers of plastic surgery, with one commenting: “Surgeries like this are just not worth it. Heartfelt condolences to her family.”
A criminal investigation has been opened into the death. Investigators are working at the scene and seizing documents, Moscow’s Investigative Committee said in a statement. A series of forensic tests have been ordered, including medical tests. According to MSK1, the clinic manager could not be reached for comment.
Yulia was born in Samara, Russia and later moved to Italy, where she married Giuseppe, a Neapolitan, about five years ago. On her blog, she regularly shared videos about life in Italy, praising the country’s family values and posting sweet clips of her husband, daughter and mother-in-law.
She has also previously revealed her medical tourism journey, including a trip to Turkey for dental treatment where she promoted the clinic involved.
During a butt lift operation in Brazil, a doctor transfers fat from the abdomen, hipslower back or from the thighs to the buttocks. Surgery carries significant risks, particularly the life-threatening complication of fat embolism, making it one of the most dangerous cosmetic procedures.
Fat embolism, where fat enters the bloodstream and can block a pulmonary artery, can potentially lead to breathing difficulty or death.
