An overweight mother of four who has lost over 100kg is documenting her excess skin surgery in a series of brutally honest social media posts.
Sara Rosemeyer, a 31-year-old military wife currently based in Nebraska with her husband, lost 119 pounds after starting running, going from 225 pounds to 166 pounds in just over 12 months.
However, her weight loss journey was not easy.
The Biggest Loser: Sara Rosemeyer, a 31-year-old military wife and mom of four who lives in Nebraska, had a lower body lift to remove excess skin she experienced after losing over 100 pounds

Changes: Sarah attempted suicide nearly two years ago (pictured in 2016) and with the help of her family doctor, a therapist and a nutritionist, she was able to turn her life around
Almost two years ago, as she approached her 30th birthday, Sarah also attempted suicide due to the stress of her marriage, caring for her two autistic boys and a cycle of “fighting and binge eating”.
But with the help of a family doctor, a nutritionist and a therapist, Sara was able to overcome her demons and put herself on a path to recovery.
On October 31, she underwent extensive surgery, removing loose skin around her stomach area via a lower body lift. She combined this with a lift and breast augmentation, taking her from an A/B to a C cup.
Documenting the process Instagramshe wrote immediately after her surgery that the procedure was “the worst thing I’ve ever signed up for.”
But since then, Sara has been positively sharing her recovery story with her followers, offering candid insights into the healing process and how it affected not only her body, but her self-esteem.
After her first check-up, Sarah posted photos of her stomach tied up with multiple drains, writing: “The doctor said I’m healing really well.” But he certainly doesn’t feel it.’
I tried to cough and thought my insides were going to explode. No joke.
She added that although she liked what she saw, she was “overwhelmed” when she saw the incisions on her skin.
Not losing her sense of humor, she joked a few days later that even though she was struggling with pain, her ultimate goal was to be able to wash her hair.
And not one to shy away from the camera, the avid social media fan took the opportunity to post photos of her drain-equipped compression garments.
Captioning a photo four days after her surgery, she wrote: “Today I felt uncomfortable, like these drains are such a pain in the ass, but nowhere near what I felt a few days ago.
“Luckily I haven’t sneezed, but I tried to cough and I thought my insides were going to explode. No joke.”
After 30 days, two of the four tubes in Sara’s stomach were removed, but she said this was a very painful procedure, resulting in swelling and infections.
“Very happy with my results, but I can’t wait to get back into short underwear, a well-fitting bra, go to the toilet and take a shower without these pesky things hanging over me like something out of Stranger Things,” she added.
What a drain: Sara posted several pictures of the drains inserted into her stomach after the operation, detailing how painful the procedure was

Bean bags: Sara explained how her breasts went from ‘deflated A to full C’ during surgery
Vulnerable: Although Sarah says she’s more aware now, she wants to post photos that aren’t ‘fake’
She also began to enjoy the perks of her breast augmentation, revealing that she now filled out a bra that was too big for her.
“My size A deflated bean bags were sliding all over this thing. Sometimes I slip out,” she wrote.
“I’m filling it completely now and it’s so nice! I went from a deflated A to a full C with silicone implants behind the muscle. They are smaller than I imagined (we practiced fitting this size into a bra before surgery and it actually felt too big). But the frame feels about right now and I’m sure once I start running again I’ll be glad I didn’t go bigger.”
And just four weeks after her surgery, despite a recurrence of the infection, burst stitches and intense pain, Sara took to Instagram again to share that she was starting to see real progress.
i cried She screamed into a pillow. Fight wounds, infections and frustration.
“I was asked today, would I do the same? Absolutely. I worked hard. I put my nose to the ground and took off hard and gave it everything I had. Every day.
“Have I had bad days? You bet. But I still did. Did it hurt? Again and again. Did I want to give up? More times since then I’d like to admit it,” he explained.
“I cried. She screamed into a pillow. I struggled with wounds, infections, hurt and frustration, stress and emotion eating and hit a wall more than once. But instead of stopping for ME… I thought about every reason I started. I gave myself 100 speeches and then some. I thought about what I most wanted to do in life. Who was waiting for me, smiling and waving at home. WHO cheered ME on at every finish line.
“And I thought of you all. And the 10,000 of you who prayed, ever said hello, ever texted me and said because of you I ran to the end of the block. I started today because of you. I am encouraged.
“I am humbled and sometimes even completely disappointed that you see something in my little big. I find strength in all of this and know that this recovery has been a bitch. I’m itching to put on my running shoes and feel the sun on my face. To lift something heavier than my damn water bottle.
“But I will show myself the grace, kindness and #selflove I deserve. Patience is the key. I will get through this and be better because of it.’
