A BBC Radio 1 star has admitted he is left unrecognizable after a hair transplant left him with a swollen and bruised face.
Presenter Dean McCullough, 32, shared a TikTok video of his face after undergoing the procedure three days earlier, but insisted the swelling is “normal”.
He went on to joke that because of the tattoos he is now in the ‘Avatar era’, with some of his followers commenting on his noticeably different appearance.
Sharing before and after snaps of his look, Dean wrote: “Day 3 of my hair transplant journey and trusting the process, zero pain or much discomfort and obviously swelling is normal.
“The swelling should be gone by the end of the fourth day and I should not be able to wash it by the fifth day. sleep is fine, donor site is fine, I put antiseptic on her and follow the aftercare plan.’

Sharing their surprise, comments from fans included: “OMG it’s Dean! I didn’t even recognize you.
“The fact that I thought because I know his voice until I read your name.”
A hair transplant is a procedure to move hair into an area that is thin or bald and can cost between £1,000 and £30,000, depending on the extent of hair loss, the type of procedure you have and the quality of the clinic and its team.
Dean was a regular star on Big Brother spin-off Late and Live last year, as well as the Celebrity edition in March.
Earlier this year it was also announced that he would be taking over the BBC Radio 1 Early Breakfast Show, having previously fronted the afternoon slot.
Speaking about the new job, Dean said:I’m really excited to be taking over from the amazing Arielle Free.
“The Early Breakfast crew are the best listeners on Radio 1. I’m really excited to be tuning in and waking up the nation every morning.”
Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn-Jones added: “I would like to thank Dean for his contribution to making the afternoon show such a success.

In a recent interview with Big issueDean opened up about his experiences with homelessness, admitting he spent a year couch surfing with his family after his parents broke up.
He said: “We didn’t live on the street, we lived at my aunt’s house on a sofa. I moved between houses on a regular basis.
“I have problems with my possessions and I feel like I have to take care of absolutely everything around me. This is due to moving from house to house and never feeling like anything was really mine.”
