Since she had not been to the dentist for years, Vicki Williams was so “embarrassed” by her teeth, hiding them behind a set of Hollywood veneers.
But the veneers covered what was really happening below – a deadly bacterial infection.
The 49 -year -old mom of the three became so pointless that they rushed to the hospital and put a coma for five days.
It was diagnosed with Ludwig angina – a serious, potentially life -threatening bacterial infection of the soft floor and throat.
Vicki, from Morecambe, Lancashire, said: “I think with lack of care I was very embarrassed to smile at people and I am a very smiling person.
“That’s why I got the veneer to cover the problem that happened below.”
It was a year ago that Vicki bought a set of £ 500 in online veneers to hide the “bad brown logs” and enhance her trust.
Usually the veneers are attached to the front of the tooth. But you can also buy clip-on for a much cheaper price.
“These [the veneers] Look amazing, they look like Hollywood teeth, “Vicki said.
“I think with my gums being so tender. I was afraid to really get them out and the care of the teeth under obviously worsened quickly.
“I should have gone to the dentist instead of looking for a quick solution.
“Basically covered the problem of teeth rotting back.”
In recent years, Vicki’s teeth health has worsened because she was struggling with his mental health and could not take care of her teeth.
Vicki was afraid to go to the dentist for a long time.
He said: “I had enough [dental] The job done as a child and then my teeth was so bad, I was very embarrassed to go to the dentist if I was honest with you.
“It was more my anxiety than a bad experience or whatever. I was scared.”
On May 2, Vicki noticed that Kato Sophia’s teeth were hurt, but as she was too scared to visit the dentist, she took ibuprofen in the hope that the pain would go away.
‘Unbearable pain’
Said: “I got ibuprofen and paracetamol and used cloves oil To try it out [her toothache].
“The pain was unbearable. I would put it on the same level as work. It was really bad.”
Three days after the start of Vicki on May 5, the pain had become “unbearable”, so he called 111 and reported Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe.
Vicki, who works as a manager, said he was given a two -week antibiotic course to fight infection.
I would like to hate for anyone else to pass by it only because of the toothache and anxiety of the dentist

THE next In the morning, she woke up to find her mouth and tongue had swollen so much that she could not breathe.
It was rushed to Lancaster Royal Infirmary in an ambulance, as he recalled: “It was very scary, I had a panic attack, I thought it was the end of the days for me.”
Doctors performed three businesses to remove many teeth and drain the infection.
During the third business, Mom was in a coma to help her fight the infection.
Doctors had to remove the teeth of Lower Sophia and most of her top teeth.
But fortunately after almost a month in the hospital, Vicky was released.
Now Vicki is talking in the hope that she can raise awareness of what happened and encourage others to control their symptoms.
Symptoms of Ludwig angina include pain, sore throat, swelling, difficulty breathing and fever.
While it tends to be unusual, the rapid recognition of the symptoms and early intervention is vital.
Vicky said, “It seems really insignificant now, when I look back on the fear I had the dentist after what I had to endure. I really feel foolish.
“He could kill me and it’s not a big deal sitting in a dentist chair. They make sure you don’t feel pain and things.
“I don’t know what I thought. But with stress you don’t think straight.”
The Dental Education Center has offered Vicki therapy since December, where students will work to clean the other teeth and get some dentures.
It has also been included in the waiting list for a NHS dentist.
Vicki’s message is: “Never ignore the toothache and as horrible as it feels that you go to the dentist is tiny compared to what I went through.
“I would like to hate for anyone else to pass by it only because of the toothache and the anxiety of the dentist.”
Ludwig’s angina
According to Colgate, the symptoms of Ludwig angina include pain, sore throat, swelling, difficulty breathing and fever.
They recommend people who experience these symptoms to seek medical care.
Treatment includes antibiotics, teeth extraction, fluid drainage and in severe cases a tracheostomy.
