The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce celebrated its achievements, inaugurated its leadership and revealed upcoming plans, including a new entertainment partnership, during its annual meeting, “A Year in Review,” at the W Hotel in Miami Beach last week.
As appetizers, drinks and treats were passed around the room, members waited for announcements.
Richard Segal, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors and co-head of law firm RFB+Fisher Potter Hodas’ new Miami office, announced that Mount Sinai Medical Center would return to the chamber.
The chamber also announced a joint venture with Groot Hospitality, which owns six restaurants and two nightclubs in South Florida, as Mr. Segal welcomed David Grutman, founder of the Miami Beach company, to the stage.
“There is one person in Miami Beach who consistently provides the highest-end hospitality at high-quality events, and I’m happy to announce him for the first time, and no one in this room but him “What we don’t know is that the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce is in a joint venture with Groot Hospitality and will host an annual event with David Grutman each year,” Segal said.
Brittnie Bassant, the new president and CEO of the chamber after Jerry Libbin retired after 13 years, told the crowd, “I’ve been here about two months now. I’m really excited to embark on this new direction. Everyone is so supportive. I say it all the time, you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with, and no one accomplishes anything alone.
The collaboration between Mr. Segal and Ms. Bassant is something to look forward to, they told members, as they plan to work together for the benefit of the city.
“I am truly thrilled that Brittnie will be taking over the leadership of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce,” Mr. Segal said. “I think Brittnie and I together will be a really cool new vision and new face for Miami Beach, and we can’t wait to really take action and roll up our sleeves and see what we can do for the city. “
