From amazing football performances to a trip down memory lane, there was plenty to enjoy in Netflix’s Beckham documentary, but we spent a lot of the four-part series marveling at how much David Beckham’s teeth have changed over the years.
While the 48-year-old has always been an extremely attractive man, in footage from his younger days, David’s smile was much less ‘Hollywood’, and now he has a sparkling white smile that would make a movie star proud.
We spoke to leading dentist, Dr. His Anmar Alhussaini Paramount Medical Center for his opinion on what David Beckham had done to his teeth.
David Beckham’s teeth: what had he done?
“David Beckham has undergone various dental procedures to improve the appearance of his teeth,” confirms Dr. Anmar.
“While the specifics of his dental work may not be publicly disclosed in detail, it is clear that he has undergone numerous cosmetic dentistry treatments to achieve his current smile. Some of the procedures commonly associated with celebrity dental makeovers include teeth whitening, straightening, veneer and cosmetic bonding.”
Did David Beckham have his teeth whitened?
David Beckham’s teeth have been looking noticeably whiter in recent years, with Dr Anmar explaining: ‘Teeth whitening is one of the simplest and most common cosmetic dental procedures.
“It involves the use of whitening agents to remove stains and discoloration from the teeth, resulting in a whiter and brighter smile. This procedure is commonly used to improve the aesthetics of teeth and create a more youthful appearance.”

Did David Beckham have braces?
David’s teeth certainly look straighter now than they did in the ’90s, but we’ve never seen the football icon wear braces.
Dr Sahil Patel his Marylebone Smile Clinic suspects the star has undergone some teeth straightening, explaining: ‘David Beckham suffered from crooked teeth in his youth – his upper teeth in particular were crowded, meaning there wasn’t enough room for them.
“He had braces/orthodontics later in life and it looks like he experienced some tooth relapse afterwards. This is when teeth move/return to their original position after braces.”
Dr. Anmar agrees, adding, “Beckham likely underwent orthodontic treatment, such as braces or clean-aligned teeth, to correct misaligned or crooked teeth. This orthodontic work can help achieve a more even and uniform smile by correcting problems such as crowding , distance or misalignment.”
Did David Beckham have veneers?
Although straighter and whiter, David Beckham’s teeth still have a similar shape to when he was in his teenage years, so it’s more likely that he had cosmetic bonding made of veneers.
“Dental bonding is a process where a tooth-colored resin is applied to the teeth and then shaped and polished,” explains Dr. Anmar. “It is often used to correct minor imperfections such as chipped or slightly misshapen teeth, providing a more cohesive and attractive smile.”
Veneers are a more permanent option, creating an even smile – think Miley Cyrus’ teeth and you’re on the right track.
“Dental veneers are thin shells, usually made of porcelain, that are custom-made to cover the front surface of teeth,” said Dr. Anmar. “Veneers can improve the shape, color and alignment of teeth, creating a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance. They are often used to address a range of cosmetic issues, from stained teeth to minor misalignments.”
That said, the soccer player suffered a horrific snowboarding accident in 2017, breaking his front tooth, so it’s possible that at least one of his front teeth is an implant. “David had a traumatic snowboarding injury that significantly damaged his front tooth. He is likely to either have a bridge or an implant to replace it.”
