Men tend to find women with natural lips more attractive, while women are attracted to Plumper Pouts, she found new research.
A research team at the University of Sydney was hired by 32 students-16 men and 16 females-and showed them a series of computer-produced images by human persons with different lip sizes.
Each person was presented with seven different lips sizes and all the study participants evaluated each person several times. In total, 168 face images were evaluated.
Researchers on average on average ratings on detecting patterns in preferences. People generally prefer slight lips to female faces and slightly thinner lips to males. Both men and women preferred male faces with thinner lips.
But when they looked more closely at gender preferences, the researchers identified another model.
Men have consistently evaluated females with natural size lips as the most attractive – they believe that Emma Watson or Natalie Portman – while women preferred women’s lips – think of Kylie Jenner or Angelina Jolie.
“In other words,” the researchers have come to the conclusion, “our data indicates that costly cosmetic procedures that increase the size of the female lips, such as injectable and lip surgery may not attract men.”
The seven levels of lip size for both men and women presented to participants. Men consistently evaluated female faces with natural size lips as the most attractive, while women preferred plumper lips to female faces
In the study, the researchers started with pictures of 24 different faces, half a male and half a female, giving neutral expressions.
While the original versions of the images showed natural lips, three versions had larger lips and three had smaller lips, creating 168 images.
At 350mm of a second, each participant looked at a person and evaluated their attractiveness based on lip sizes, from small to cartoon large, without taking too much time to focus on individual features. Rated each person five times in random order.
Female faces were rated more attractive with slight lips, while male faces were preferred with thinner lips.
In the second part of the experiment, the researchers showed three persons in each study either with moderately larger or smaller lips for 15 seconds.
Subsequently, all seven sizes of the lips were presented and re -evaluated the attractiveness of the faces.
The results showed that men involved in the study preferred the thinnest lips to male faces, while female participants preferred women’s lips to female faces.
The findings indicate that gender can affect attractive taste preferences, with participants tend to rate their own sex faces more favorably, especially when it comes to lip size.

Starting to undergo fillers can be a slippery slope, Australian researchers warned.
Exposure to artificially enlarged lips, in addition to the natural boundaries, could cause a feedback loop where the observer only finds gradually lips attractive.
“After all, such a process will culminate with the deformity of the lips,” they said.
Men and women have different preferences for lip size, with women favoring the lips of female faces and men who prefer thinner lips to male persons
The term is reported when a person’s perception of his lips (or any feature) is deformed and they feel obliged to change them repeatedly, even if there is no real defect.
What people find attractive can change over time due to repetitive exposure to modified features such as over -inflated lips, which means that their perceptions of attractiveness can be adapted and shifted.
They added: “Therefore, in the real world, when people seek to permanently modify their appearance with surgery … Over time, they will be visually adapted to the new shape or size of their modified features and this will probably smooth out their definition of attractiveness and motivation.”
