Botox may be best known for its ability to eliminate frown lines and smooth the forehead, but one of its lesser-known, yet common uses is to strengthen the skin around the eye and brow area. This treatment is the Botox brow lift treatment, also referred to as Browtox when used to help correct uneven brows.
“The delicate skin in this area naturally tends to wrinkle and sag as we age, so the eye looks smaller and can even look puffy. There are a number of non-surgical procedures that can make the skin around your eyes look smooth and firm again, one of which is Botox injections.’ says cosmetic doctor Dr Anne Mendelovici, based in Harley Street, London.
So when your eye cream just won’t cut it, Botox is an alternative that relaxes the muscles, smoothes lines around the eyes, while also lifting the brow. Dr. Mendelovici, a treatment expert, gives a short description of what to consider before choosing the procedure.
What does Botox brow lift involve?
“It basically consists of multiple tiny Botox injections in the lower forehead around the eyes. It relaxes the muscles, which helps reduce wrinkles around the eyes and slightly lifts the browbones, all with the effect of opening the eyes.”
What should you know after treatment?
The full effects of Botox take several weeks to be seen, so it’s best to plan ahead if there is a time factor for results. It’s also worth noting, “Some people may experience temporary redness, pain, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site immediately after treatment. In rare cases, some may experience headaches.” It also adds, “After treatment, it is recommended not to rub the injection area and avoid vigorous exercise, steam/sauna for 24 hours.”
Is it suitable for everyone?
“It is important to know that the use of Botox is contraindicated in people with neuromuscular disorders, pregnant or lactating women, or anyone who is allergic to the product (Botox).
How long will the results last?
“On average, Botox lasts for 3 to 4 months, this obviously varies from patient to patient depending on muscle strength. Movements slowly start to return after a few months,” says Dr Mendelovici. “I prefer to take a light touch approach, so I inject gently at first to avoid any weight on the brow/forehead and then offer a complimentary touch-up 1 to 2 weeks after the initial treatment for any additional adjustment.”
What can I expect to pay?
Expect the treatment to be between £300-£400 (depending on the areas you inject).
What if you don’t like the results?
Botox cannot be reversed, unlike fillers which can be dissolved, so it’s a waiting game for the effect to wear off naturally. Therefore, it is important to do your research before treatment and have a full consultation so that you are clear about the process and the results.
How can I find a good professional?
As the industry remains unregulated in the UK, be sure to check the qualifications of your chosen GP on the General Medical Council register. Other places to check accreditation include the voluntary register at the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) the Joint Council for Cosmetic Physicians (JCCP) and Save face.
Botox Brow Lift Review:
The Brow Influencer Review: They don’t call Sal Cikikcioglu the “King of Brows” for nothing. The celebrity eyebrow specialist is a pro when it comes to eyebrow shaping and styling.
They say the eyes are the window to your soul. For me, eyebrows are like the gatekeepers and trust me when I say, having perfectly groomed and shaped eyebrows can do wonders to your face. Like many, I had uneven eyebrows. No matter how often I had my brows shaped, I always had one that sat perfectly and one that had a slight roundness that couldn’t be fixed with wax or thread. For me, the roundness was so intense, that the eyebrow rose every time I spoke, giving me a slightly confused expression that I couldn’t control.
