Public security is a top priority for the Mhra. Botulinum toxin is a medicine only for a prescription and must be sold or provided only according to a prescription given by a suitable professional, such as a doctor or other specialist health professional.
The Botulinum toxin market in any other circumstances significantly increases the risk of receiving a product which is either fake or has no license in the United Kingdom. This means that there are no guarantees to ensure that the products meet the MhraStandards for quality and safety. Therefore, they can endanger the health of the people who take them.
Our criminal enforcement unit works hard to identify those involved in the illegal drug trade and take strong enforcement action where necessary. This may include criminal prosecution.
