Cellulite clinical score, for example, had improved significantly after two and three months by 12.2 % and 13.6 %.
The study also reported a decrease in the periphery of the upper thigh and the roughness of the skin.
The findings of the clinical trial-said to be the first-a-kind-published Peer.
The French pine bark extract studied in the clinical trial is commercially available as a denseogenol and is provided by the Swiss company Horphag Research, which also funded the clinical trial.
A total of 60 Chinese women of HAN aged 25 to 45 years old completed the 12 -week clinical trial.
Were randomized either in the intervention or in the placebo group.
The intervention team took a capsule containing 50mg of the French pine peel extract in the morning and two capsules in the evening. Overall, the intervention team took 150mg of French pine peel extract daily.
The daily dose of 150 mg has been chosen as it has been shown to be effective in previous studies, such as Dealing edema in chronic venous insufficiency and The flow of skin rest in menopause women.
During the study, they should not have used local products that probably interfere with cellulite therapy.
Hexsel (HCSS) cellulite severity was used to assess the changes in the severity of cellulite.
It is a classification system that evaluates the five major clinical and morphological aspects of cellulite.
They include 1) the number of apparently depressed lesions, 2) depth of depression, 3) morphological appearance of skin surface lesions, 4) degree of amputation or loosening of the skin, and 5) degree of cellulite is evaluated.
Each of them was scored from zero to three. The higher the scores, the more severe the cellulite.
Other parameters, including the body mass index (BMI), the periphery of the thigh and the normal condition of the skin.
The findings have shown a significant improvement in HCSS scores in the intervention team for eight weeks of filling – with HCSs below 12.2 %.
By the end of the study, the score in the intervention group had been significantly reduced by the base line 7.1 ± 0.2 to 6.1 ± 0.2 – equivalent to a decline of 13.6 %.
One decrease was also observed in the placebo group – below 6.8 ± 0.2 to 6.2 ± 0.2 – which is equivalent to a fall of nine percent. However, the decrease was not statistically significantly different from the basic levels.
Reduction of cellulite associated with a smaller upper thigh
The decrease in cellulite in the intervention group was also accompanied by a decrease in the periphery of the upper thigh.
By the end of the 12 -week study, the upper periphery of their thigh had been significantly reduced by the initial value by 2.07 cm ± 0.4.
The improvement was also statistically significant compared to the placebo group – which saw only a decrease of 0.9 cm ± 0.3.
The decrease in the periphery of the upper thigh using the French marine pine pine peel extract was also greater than some of the FDA cellulite reduction treatments, the researchers said, citing existing research.
An example is Velasmooth ™ that combines infrared light, radio frequency energy and tissue mobilization, where the decrease in the periphery of the upper thigh was 0.53cm.
Flowers, a low -level laser, double wavelength and massage device, on the other hand, reportedly led to a decrease of 0.82cm in the periphery of the upper thigh.
Erchonia GLS, a low -level laser treatment that uses green diodes, is said to have caused results in the same area as the French pine bark extract, with a decrease of approximately 2.36cm.
Horphag Research believes that the findings of this clinical trial will open doors to further investigate Pycnogenol’s role in supporting tissue structure and microcirculation.
Future research can also consider wider populations or complementary evaluation methods.
Reduced skin roughness, improved skin smoothness
The French marine pine peel extract also led to significant improvements in two other parameters – that is, the roughness of the skin and the smoothness of the skin.
Both skin roughness and smoothness were measured using Visioscan VC20, where smaller values reflect a smoother image.
In terms of skin roughness, the researchers said that improvements in the intervention group were significant and persistent since the second month of the study.
On the contrary, the placebo group saw a significant but transient improvement.
“The transient improvement after two months was observed within the placebo group and a significant and persistent reduction in roughness occurred after two months and three months by 29 % and 32 % in the Verum group,” the researchers said.
A similar trend was also observed in the smoothness of the skin.
“In the placebo group, there was no mainly significant effect except for day 28 and day 56 from average 169 (151 to 192) to 155 (136 to 164) at 0.012.
“On the contrary, in the Verum group, a significant improvement in the smoothness of the skin has been detected over time.
“Taking together, this is the first randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study that successfully compares the effectiveness of a dietary supplement containing FMPBE with anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and microcirculation abilities in a placebo using a validated clinic.
“The data indicates a significant improvement in the clinical rating of cellulite after two and three months by 12.2 % and 13.6 % in the Verum group, which was associated with clinical rehabilitation showing photos and significant reduction in the upper thighs periphery after three months,” the researchers concluded.
