This book, the fourth in the author’s work, brings a structured and contemporary approach to preclinical dental prosthodontics, linking university theory with laboratory practice.
In the premises of the “Hivzi Sylejmani” Library in Pristina, the book “Mobile Preclinical Prosthetics – Total Prostheses”, an important publication in the field of preclinical dental prosthetics, authored by Ass. Dr. Sc. Visar Disha, demonstrating his continuity and dedication to the development of university literature and the advancement of dental education in Kosovo and beyond.
The book was born out of a real academic and practical need, aiming to offer dental students a structured, clear and closely linked material between preclinical theory and laboratory practice. In her approach, prosthetics is not treated as a mechanical process, but as a well-thought-out process, based on biological, functional and aesthetic principles, which helps students understand not only how a complete prosthesis is made, but also why it is made in a particular way.
The structure of the book is built in a progressive and logical way, starting with the basic concepts of complete dentition and maxillary and mandibular anatomy, to continue with anatomical and functional measurements, maxillo-maxillary relations, vertical and horizontal dimensions, the use of articulations, the placement of artificial teeth, esthetics and occlusion. The publication concludes with laboratory procedures, finalization, occlusal corrections, repair and reintegration of complete dentures, making the book a complete guide from theory to practice.
The author of the book, Asst. Dr. Sc. Visar Disha, is an expert in various branches of dentistry including dental prosthetics, orthodontics and maxillofacial orthopedics, oral surgery and implantology. With a doctorate successfully completed “Magna Cum Laude” at the University of Zagreb and active participation in teaching and scientific research at the Medical School of the University of Pristina, Dr.
The book was co-authored with Professor Dr. Kujtim Shala, Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry at the University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina”, one of the most respected figures in Kosovo dentistry, with over 38 years of academic and professional experience. The contribution of Professor Dr. Shala is reflected in the structuring of the content, conceptual clarity and the maintenance of high academic standards, making the book a reliable resource for students and young professionals.
As a third co-author, Dr. Fatbardhë Gashi has made a significant professional and scientific contribution to the realization of this publication. With university education in dentistry and active involvement in clinical practice, he has brought to the book a modern and practical approach, which reflects modern developments in the field of dental prosthetics. Her experience in the private sector, her continuous participation in local and international conferences, as well as the attendance of specialized training in various fields of dentistry, directly influenced the quality and applicability of the content of the book. The contribution of Dr. Gashi is particularly reflected in the practical assessments and professional correctness of the material, giving the publication a contemporary and easy-to-use dimension for students and young professionals.
The book received special academic praise from the reviewer Prof. Dr. Fejzi Keraj, icon of Albanian dentistry and “Grand Master”, honored by the President of the Republic of Albania.
