Alexis Bellino had a breast augmentation as she prepared to marry John Janssen.
The Real Housewives of Orange County The alum confirmed the procedure less than two weeks after her “rustic” wedding in Laguna Beach, California, explaining why she didn’t postpone the surgery until after the ceremony.
Alexis Bellino has confirmed that she had breast reconstruction surgery
“I’m going to go for this last-minute breast — not really emergency, but kind of emergency — breast,” she recalled during a recent appearance on Two Ts in a Pod podcast. “I didn’t mean to redo them. But by the way, they look smaller, huh?”
The podcast hosts, RHOC‘s Tamra Judge and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Alum Teddi Mellencamp agreed and praised Alexis’ new look.
“I had chest reconstruction work because here’s why: my left side was trapped, so it was hardening and growing here,” Alexis explained. “It was starting to grow under my chin.”
“That wouldn’t look good in a wedding dress,” Tamra joked.
“But then, also, guess what happened?” Alexis continued. “My implant broke… It was kind of an emergency, but not really. Like, I wasn’t going to die.”

Alexis Bellino sheds light on her breast augmentation journey
Alexis talked about the surgery during an interview in May People magazinesaying she had had multiple breast augmentations since she was 19. The mother of three said she had her implants replaced in 2008, but began experiencing symptoms around 2022. Her doctors found that the scar tissue around the breast implant had hardened, causing tightness and discomfort.
Alexis said she had her boobs “fixed” that same year. However, the symptoms reappeared six months later.
“Most of the time, once you have it, it keeps coming back,” he said of the condition.

Although she was experiencing “shooting pain” in her chest, Alexis refused to undergo surgery again unless it was vital. She finally changed her mind this year as her symptoms intensified.
“My left breast has started to lift and swell to the point where it’s not only uncomfortable and hard, but now it’s really noticeable in pictures,” she told the report. “I had numbness and tingling in my hands. I kept saying to John, you know how your hand falls asleep when you’re laying down? I wasn’t even laying on it. I just kept falling asleep. I just knew I had to do something about it.”
Alexis said she had the corrective surgery on April 15, when her doctor also discovered the aforementioned tear. She said she considered going implant-free, but decided against it after talking with her surgeon.
“The doctor said to me, ‘You have zero breast tissue, so not only are you going to have scars all over the skin, you’re going to be completely flat,'” Alexis recalled. “Well, I was like, well, I don’t know if I can live with that, so we’ll take our chances and pray.”
Doctors eventually removed Alexis’ old implants and replaced them with smaller ones. They also placed surgical mesh to reinforce her new implants.
“I got smaller. So the ‘Jesus Jugs’ are going down,” she joked. “I’m sure Tamra can come up with another nickname. It’ll be ‘Little Jugs’ or ‘Jesus Jugs Jr.’ I don’t know.”
Alexis Bellino expresses regret about her plastic surgery
Fast forward to October 31when Alexis confirmed he was still having implant issues. She posted a video from inside her bathroom, revealing surgical drains under her shirt.
“So no one knows this, but I want to be very, I guess, open or honest about getting breasts. This is my fourth or fifth breast job.” she said before touching her left breast. “This breast is not happy with anything. Five months later, I had to get bags. I’m just letting you know, don’t take anything. I’ve told all my daughters, ‘No business with breasts.’ Stay real, keep yourself, no plastic… You don’t need to get breasts at 19 or 20”.
Alexis opened up about her plastic surgery journey to the big caption, saying she regretted getting breast implants at a relatively young age.
“I would have waited until I had kids. I wish I could have been stronger then,” she wrote. “So what my NOW self would say to my YOUNGER self is …. “Alexis, you are good enough no matter what teenagers say to you. You are strong. You will get over all this and regret it if you switch bodies now. Wait. Be patient. Don’t listen to the noise and the haters calling you a pancake. Just be you.”
