Over the years, 28-year-old Simone Biles has been quite outspoken about procedures to alter her appearance, with the Olympian revealing last year that she had a Botox baby for her 27th birthday — but she wasn’t happy with the results.
Then, last month, Simone fueled speculation that she’d had a breast augmentation after sharing a video of herself working out alongside the caption: “First twist – in a year – new house – with news 🍒.”
And the star confirmed the process in late October after sharing a TikTok video where he teased: “I’ve had three plastic surgeries and two of them you’d never be able to tell.” Simone then asked her followers to guess the procedures in the comments.
He later replied to one of the comments to reveal the three things, writing: “
Now, Simone has opened up about her decision to tell her followers about the cosmetic work she had done, and honestly? Makes a good point.
Talking to you PeopleSimone explained that she hoped her transparency would help younger people realize that what they see on social media “isn’t real” and that not everyone looks “that good” naturally – in fact, everyone has their own insecurities. Simone also wants to eliminate the feeling of “shame” around cosmetic treatments if it helps people feel more confident about themselves.
“I’ve always tried to be open, honest and relatable. Seeing me win medals at the Olympics, that’s not comparable,” Simone began. “But what is relevant is how we feel about ourselves, what we talk about, what we go through and how we share openly, honestly.”
“It shows young girls that they have a right to their own choices, whatever they are, and there’s no shame in that,” she continued. “I feel like in this day and age with social media, you look at everybody and you’re like, ‘Oh my god, how is she so good?’ Social media isn’t real, so I try to be as transparent as possible.”
Explaining her thought process behind her operations, Simone added: ‘I got lower mucosa because me and my family have, I call it ‘Biles eye bags’. We just always had them, inherited, and so this was just a big flaw. Every time I’ve gone on a shoot, they’re like, “Oh, can we put some strips on her?” And I said, “Oh, baby, I had 12 hours last night, these won’t go away. These are just hereditary.’ So it’s something I wanted to fix.”
Discussing her breast augmentation, Simone said: “It’s not that I didn’t like how I looked or how it felt, it’s something I obviously notice a bit more because I live in this body, I’m just used to it.”
