The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has officially been named host of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”, Prime Video announced on April 16.
The three-time Super Bowl champion will host 20 episodes of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? spin off. Each game will feature an adult contestant who will rely on a classroom full of celebrities to help them answer 11 questions on a range of topics, drawn from the elementary curriculum, in a bid to win a prize of 100 000 $.
And yes, Kelce’s foray into TV hosting is truly something out of his wildest dreams.
“I grew up loving game shows and I’m excited to follow in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first with ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?'” said the 34-year-old man in a press release. statement. “The original series is a big hit, so bringing a new format to the screen with everyone’s favorite celebrities will definitely be entertaining.”
Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend added, “I’m just happy to be on the host side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
And Lauren Anderson, head of unscripted and focused AVOD originals programming for Amazon MGM Studios, is confident the sports star’s charming personality will appeal to game show fans.
“Travis has proven himself to be an incredible talent on and off the field,” she shared in an April 16 press release. “His natural, comedic dynamic with our panelists and guests, coupled with exciting new twists and turns, will keep our guests around the world coming back week after week.”
The premiere date has not yet been announced.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the athlete has appeared on his own TV show. The “New Heights” podcast co-host searched for love on the E! reality TV series “Catching Kelce.”
Kelce’s latest career project follows his 2024 Super Bowl victory with the Chiefs and his increasingly serious romance with Swift, whom he began dating last year.
