The beauty of laser skin repetition is that it can deal with a wide range of skin worries without a single incision. But non -invasive does not mean that there is zero interruption time. In fact, a few days of recovery, ideally with the right laser skin care tips, they can do results-and your overall experience-very much better.
As a renewal, “lasers emit light on different wavelengths to specifically destroy the pigment, blood vessels and damaged skin to improve skin tone and texture,” says Washington, DC Dermatologist Tina Alster, MD. When creating these controlled injuries, lasers can leave the skin vulnerable to external attackers while healing, not to mention overall irritation. Here, what can you do before, during and after your treatment to set yourself up for a smooth recovery.

Prepare before your treatment
Skin care routine after the laser should really start before your appointment. “It is important to promote the skin to have it in the best possible condition before treatment,” says Dermatologist Days Days Day of New York, MD, who gives patients a defined skin care routine that includes local ingredients such as extracurricular, antioxidants and growth factors. (The exact composition depends on the patient’s type and concern.) In this way, it can ensure that a patient has no reaction to any ingredients.
Dr. Alster, meanwhile, will put its patients in a simple skin care form consisting of a local antioxidant, such as vitamin C, followed by a mineral sunscreen. Having healthy skin in front of time will make the healing process go smoother.
Stay out of the sun
Of all the tips on skin care after the laser, there is no more significant than avoiding sun exposure. Transition without sunscreen after a laser treatment is like taking two steps forward and one step back. For one: “Your skin can be colored, and it may take a long time to go away, says Delray Beach, Fl FL Plastic Miguel Mascaró, MD.
In addition, exposure to the sun after laser treatment can increase the risk of unwanted actions, such as blisters, according to Dr. Alster. Both doctors recommend the use of a sunscreen based on minerals on the days following your process. “It is much more polite to the skin and it is less likely to cause reaction or sensitivity,” says Dr. Mascaró.
Keep enough recovery time
If it is not invasive, it is not a big deal – or so you may be tempted to think when you go to a laser treatment. But this is one of the biggest mistakes that patients make when designing skin care after laser, says Dr. Mascaró. “You want to give your skin enough time to recover properly for better results,” he says. “The more aggressive the treatment is, the more downtime you should give yourself.”
A non-abstract laser, like Fraxel, will probably require two to four days of interruption, he says. In the meantime, if you are taking an abstract laser treatment – it means that it completely destroys the upper layers of the skin – take advantage of that you need anywhere from one to three weeks of recovery. Taking this, “depends on the depth and aggression of treatment,” says Dr. Mascaró, who suggests that you closely follow your doctor’s advice. After all, they know what settings were used for the laser, as well as what you can expect in your recovery.
Strike your care after
Immediately after treatment (and by clearing your doctor), apply an Aloe Vera gel. Any species will do, says Dr. Mascaró, who notes that Aloe Vera “has an anti -inflammatory ingredient, reducing swelling and improving healing time by about 60 %”.
For the first seven days after your treatment, moisturize your skin and thoroughly apply sun protection. Dr. Alster recommends to use a mild cleanser twice a day, followed by a moisturizing cream without fragrance. (She likes Epionce Medical Barrier Cream.) For the day, Slater in this mineral SPF. If you usually use strong or potentially irritating active ingredients in your routine, such as retinoic acid, do not restore it until your skin is cured, he says.
Dr. Day also sends patients at home with the CO2LIFT CARBOXY GEL FACE MASK be used in the third and fifth days after processing. “It’s like a hyperbaric oxygen treatment at home and does a great job reduction in redness and improving skin hydration,” he says. (The mechanism of action: Oxygen improves microcirculation, which accelerates the treatment, according to Dr. Day.) You consider it to be an investment to make the most of laser treatment-in the form of brighter, stricter and properly healing skin.
