Rockford, Ill. (WIFR) – The risks of breast implant surgery are a speech point among plastic surgeons around the world, including one in Rockford that says it may be better to find a more natural process.
Hundreds of thousands of women undergo breast growth surgery each year, according to American company plastic surgeons company. However, 2023, About 40,000 women Their implants were reversed.
“There are hundreds of studies showing that these implants make women sick and there is no one who shows they are safe,” says Laura Bowden, a patient lawyer in Health pryor in Rockford and a survivor of breast implant disease.
The BII refers to a wide range of symptoms that occur after the production of breast implants, says plastic surgeon Landon Pryor. In fact, more than 50 symptoms of BII have been identified by patients who say that their musculoskeletal system and the ability to think and focus.
“Someone who can get breast implants that have no symptoms will be very different from someone who may be genetically predisposed to get a breast implant disease,” Pryor said.
There is not enough research to say exactly what causes breast implant disease. But experts from Cleveland’s clinic show a autoimmune reaction in parts of the implant, such as silicone.
Pryor says women waiting to look for treatment sometimes become bed, disabled or, in some cases, suicide.
“The only cure that is really successful is to remove the source,” Pryor explained. “Includes removing the implant. Removing the inflammatory tissue around the implant, called a capsule, and then the reconstruction of the breast as needed.”

In accordance with Food and Drug AdministrationSymptoms occur anywhere from immediately after implantation in 42.5 years later, with an average start time of just six years. Pryor explains that once implants are removed, women report that the symptoms disappear.
In addition, she says that women who present these symptoms to a doctor are often rejected or canceled and say they are just part of the age. But Bowden, who had the disease in 1992, wants these women to know that this is not the case.
“The last thing they want to do is remove their breast implants,” Bowden said. “So, once they reach us, they know the gut they gave to God that this is why they are sick.”
Pryor says that this warning is not intended to keep women from breast growth, probably to lead them to a more natural, healthy alternative such as a transplant or fat transplant.
“To say that breast implant disease is not a legal scientific medical diagnosis is irrational,” Pryor said. “The survey is there. The clinical evidence exists.”
If you decide against breast implants, there are several alternatives that include fat transport processes, non -surgical breast lifts and hormonal treatment.
