Following the launch of the Invisalign Palatal Expander system in the United Kingdom and Ireland, we discover how this product could “revolutionize” Orthodontics.
At a black tie event in the heart of London, Align Technology launched one of its newest innovations in the United Kingdom and Ireland: the Invisalign Palatal Expander system. This clinically effective system uses a range of 3D printing devices to gradually expand the upper arch to children aged six to 11.
At the launch of Invisalign Palatal Expander in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Evren Koksal, aligned General Manager, the United Kingdom and Ireland, said he felt “exciting”. “This milestone reflects our commitment to promoting orthodontic care and providing orthodontists with innovative solutions for their younger patients,” he said.
“With the increasing demand for orthodontic treatment between children and adolescents, the start of the Invisalign Palatal Expander system allows us to offer a more complete first treatment solution, along with Invisalign. This innovation ensures an excellent patient experience as comfortable and supports oral hygiene.
‘Revolutionary’ product
The event began with a live session, in which the networking offers participated in photo opportunities and enjoyed delicious canapes. After an introduction by Evren, specialized orthodontist Federico Migliori gave a detailed and enlightening lecture on how the Invisalign Palatal Expander system operates.
By presenting his own clinical cases that used the system, he demonstrated the full treatment journey from beginning to end and the clinical results that can be achieved with the device. Federico said: “Being really in relation to this new innovation is a privilege for me and it is something I am really happy to do.

“In my opinion, we now have the opportunity to complete both the skeletal expansion and the dental -political aspects of treatment, while ensuring that it is a more comfortable treatment experience for patients. There are huge potential and parents feedback is just amazing.
When asked what hopes that the participants took out of his lecture, he said: “How can we change our patients to live at this early stage and also make future treatments so easier for them. For me, this is the best part of these treatments.
Following the lecture of Federico, the participants participated in a Q&A with him and the orthodontic specialist Monica Pais. Insightful Panel interviewed questions about product development, connecting it to Itero Lumina (another of the latest Align products) and how it is used in combination with Invisalign first.
We discussed some of the participants to find out their thoughts about the product and what brought them to the event. Marissa Bell, specialized orthodontics, said: “The product looks fantastic compared to a traditional metallic metallic that is fixed in one’s mouth. Having something removable is much easier for the patient, the toddler, to clean his teeth, but also takes so much less space in their mouths.
“It seems quite revolutionary and could potentially change my clinical practice and add increased value to it for me and my patients.”
He added that it was surprised by how simple the product is and found it valuable to find out how it works with Invisalign first, like someone who already uses it. “I saw a possible patient for the first time yesterday, so I now understand the workflow I need to apply to use Invisalign Palatal Expander first and then proceed smoothly to the use of Invisalign first.”
Benefits from timely treatment
Similarly, specialized orthodontics Catherine McCanny said she watched the launch because she wanted to know more about the concept of the use of Invisalign Palatal Expander, as she is willing to do more early and hindering treatments. After hearing the Federico lecture, he said: “I see the advantage that having it as an alternative to the most traditional palace. It is much more patient -friendly and is quite exciting.
“For me, as a parent, and looking at the parents of young children, I think it has really highlighted the benefits of early treatment and especially early expansion to prevent the need for extracts later and really make the second phase of the treatment simpler.”

He added: “There I feel that it is really going to revolutionize Orthodontics. I think the struggle we have in the United Kingdom takes our audience and our general dentists to recognize the need to refer to patients at the age of seven or eight to the orthodontic. If we can break these obstacles, this is something that will be very exciting for the future.
Evren added that he hoped that the launch participants won a comprehensive understanding of the Invisalign Palatal Expander system and how to undergo cases of treatment of young patients.
He said: “Dr. Migliori’s insightful overview and clinical cases presentations were designed to provide clarity and practical knowledge. In addition, we aimed at the participants to recognize the importance of Itero Lumina and the latest techniques to achieve high precision and higher visualization in old scans.
“These developments are vital to enhancing patients’ results and rationalizing clinical work flows.”
