If you’ve ever spent your morning moving to start again with your career, this feature is for you. Every week we are talking to someone from a different profession to find out what is really and today we are discussing with the hair surgeon and co -founder of Dr. Roshan Vara.
A typical salary for a hair surgeon … It actually depends on whether you are an owner or employee. In the United Kingdom, salaries can start at £ 38,000, but range north of £ 150,000.
I wanted to be a botanist while growing up … I still have a passion for plants and you will often find me to tend my garden over a weekend. I went to study medicine, as I finally had a charm for all the sciences, and medicine was a big mix of all of them. My background is in acute medical and surgery and I have worked in hospitals throughout London.

A friend’s hair transplantation … It prompted me to consider opening my own hair transplant clinic. Unfortunately, our friend’s experience was not isolated. We realized that many people were looking for solutions for bad hair transplant results.
I get to work for 6.30am. … I will look at my messages and take a look at my surgery that day. I will mentally prepare for the patient – their personality, their goal of surgery and what they are most concerned about. My patient arrives at 7am and I will pass their consent and I will prepare them for surgery. I will operate from 8am to 12pm and then there will be a break between 12pm and 1pm. Then I reboot surgery around 1 pm And I operate until 3 pm – 5 pm – This varies from patient to patient.
I do a lot of “hair counseling” … After the perfection of surgery, I will head to my office, where I may have planned patients. This is where I will advise them around their hair loss and surgical requirements. There are many management expectations and most of the time it helps patients understand how their hair is going to change in the next 10-30 years and what we need to be prepared.
After 5 pm, one of my staff will ask me to shoot a social media video … To present a result or explain surgery. I will have time to cover the emails again and work on the business activities of the clinic.
I completed about 250 to 300 surgeries a year … And average between 50 and 70 hours a week.
The celebrity with the best hair transplant is … Steve Carell, star of the American version of the office. His hair line was significantly dilution in the first age and underwent a dramatic, natural change in the second season. Made such a big difference to him. It is important that the plan for surgery was suitable for his age, and one that we hope will last for a long time. Similarly, I have seen many famous people with less than optimal results. I would not feel comfortable calling anyone publicly, especially as they may be completely happy with the result. If someone ever needed advice, I’m always happy to help.
I’m a huge cricket fan, so … Working with any top cricket would be amazing – maybe Joe Root? Virat Kohli? Steve Smith? Not that they need it!
There is a real shortage of formal training for hair transplant surgery …. Doctors require a medical degree and then have to find an established surgeon from whom they can learn the process of hair transplant surgery. It often takes a whole year to become relatively trained in the process.
You must be able to hold high levels of concentration during the six to eight -hour process … And you have an artistic feeling to understand how light and shade patterns can create wonderful natural results.
The greatest misconception of my role is … That I am able to clone or reproduce hair when performing surgery. Hair transplant surgery currently includes the redistribution of hair from an area of abundance (usually on the back and sides of the scalp) in an area that lacks it, such as the hair and crown line. Eventually, a patient will run out of hair if they continue to have surgery to cover the bald areas. Therefore, I spend a lot of time advising patients that it may not be the best time to have surgery and delay it.
I remember a patient who … He had concerns about his hair dating from three decades when he was intimidated at school. He was worse during his time in the army, where he had to shave his head. As the years passed and his hair continued to be thin, he began to lose contact with his former self – and, critical, with a passion for art and painting. He left him in a prolonged state of anxiety. He underwent surgery on his hair line with a stunning result and has since rekindled his old passion for painting and found a new lease of life for himself and his family. He and his wife were so grateful for the efforts of me and my team and is a case that he will live in my memory.

We face television personalities, musicians, athletes, actors, CEO Fortune 500 and more … Many causes of UNSHAVEN hair transplants that specialize, allowing them to return to work with a minimum interruption time. For these patients, privacy and confidentiality with maximum care are treated. Ndas are often part of the process and of course confidentiality is something we support as part of good medical practice. Unfortunately, I couldn’t reveal which famous patients we have encountered!
A hair transplant will cost between … £ 3,000 and £ 10,000 in our clinic. We will only know an exact value for surgery after a personal consultation with the patient. Our clinic offers a 0% funding plan that can help spread payments.
It is imperative to recognize the consequences of the mental health of hair loss … and the transplantation of hair transplants. Removing these procedures is not just about hair reform. This is the reform of social attitude towards aging, appearance and mental health for men. By promoting an environment of acceptance and understanding, we encourage men to take precautionary measures to enhance their trust and general prosperity.
I suspect I will start to finish at the age of 55 … But, knowing me, I will get restless. I love problem solving and thinking about new ideas for growth and I don’t see myself losing this passion.
One of the most extreme cases I’ve worked on … It was a repair for a patient who had traveled to Turkey for surgery in an unjust clinic. The previous procedure had become so bad that the parts of their scalp were left with a seriously compromised blood supply – which means that even the basic healing process was a concern, let alone hair growth. The scalp is incredibly thin and requires careful handling – it’s ultimately your head.
