A mom was “partially paralyzed” after being “poisoned” by Botox -like injections – and says that hunting beauty destroyed her life.
Stephanie Ottaway, 35, told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview that she first went under the needle in March 2023 to “get rid of some wrinkles”.
Within the first 24 hours he began experiencing debilitating headaches. In just two weeks, it was “little able to walk”.
Stephanie initially brushed her symptoms after talking to doctors – who did not initially lin them in injection – and in July 2023 she underwent a second round of injections “not thinking anything”.
Shortly thereafter, her initial symptoms deteriorated and suffered extreme pain in her joints and muscles, tender and raw skin and breathing difficulties during her sleep that left her “breath for air” at night.
Mom-one said she was temporarily “partially paralyzed” after nervous damage to her hands and hands and was not “unable to take” her daughter, Millie, 4 years old “for more than a year due to muscle weakness and joint pain.
And she even found daily duties such as washing her hands and the opening of the refrigerator “very difficult”.
In March 2024, it was eventually diagnosed with medical mealglass – a rare neuromuscular disease caused by neurotoxins of metalin, the active ingredient in Botox – after more than a year “excluding” any other cause.
Stephanie Ottaway, 35, told the Daily Mail that she first went under the needle in March 2023 to “get rid of some wrinkles” but within two weeks of jab, she began to experience weakened headaches and could walk
When her doctors told her that the symptoms were not associated with injections, she went for a second round, which temporarily left her “partially paralyzed” and “breathing for air” at night.
During the first round Stephanie paid $ 400 to have 36 Xeomin units injected. The second round left her $ 900 in total from the pocket for both visits
He says it is over $ 15,000 out of pocket from countless appointments and a doctor’s treatment and two years, there is still regular natural treatment to help facilitate the symptoms of poisoning, as there is no specific treatment.
Stephanie, who works in the marketing of influence, from Bakersfield, California, in the US, told the Daily Mail: “It is the greatest regret of my life.
“I have friends and family who had botox – and I thought I was completely safe,” he explained.
“But two years of my life have been lost because I didn’t feel pretty beautiful. There were days when I could not walk and be the mother I wanted to be.
“And now I want to warn others about the unknown dangers of botulinum toxins.”
Stephanie paid over $ 400 to have 36 Xeomin units – an alternative to Botox – injected on her forehead, eleven lines, crw’s legs and under her eyebrows in March 2023.
Initially, he had no symptoms and left the clinic “happy”, but within 24 hours, he noticed problems.
“I began to develop horrible headaches that look more like migraines,” he said.
Stephanie said to a point that she felt so much pain and was so ill that she couldn’t hold Millie’s 4 -year -old daughter, who was two at the moment

When the symptoms worse
“I was told that it was normal and I did all my research, but everything just felt wrong and continued to get worse.
“There were days when I could not walk, open the refrigerator or be ongoing together. It was the most frightening time. ”
Botox and xeomin are drugs produced by toxin produced by the Botulinum of the Clostridium bacterium.
They work with the weakening and obstruction of certain muscles or nerves, with results that last about three months and can prevent the growth or deterioration of wrinkles.
Stephanie visited doctors with her concerns and initially said she had nothing to do with injections, but that she could be an autoimmune disease or severe inflammation.
Although it had no “real answer”, after four months, its symptoms began to retreat and returned for a second round of injections in July, this time with 40 Xeomin points in the same places, “he thinks nothing of it”.
But, in just a few weeks, its initial symptoms returned with “full power”.
Stephanie before injections
In March 2024, it was eventually diagnosed with medical mealgasification – a rare neuromuscular disease caused by Botulinum neurotoxins, the active ingredient in botox
Two years after injections, Stephanie continues to suffer daily with the constant effects of poisoning. But she says she and her husband Tanner (right) take it day by day
“It wasn’t just a two -week fluid that I could sleep away,” he said. “I lost my ability to do anything.
“Simple duties, like drying with a towel or washing my hands were intensely painfully.”
At its lowest point, Stephanie could not type, open food jars, walk and, at the “worst”, take her daughter who were two at the moment.
During the night, she would often wake up “breathing for air” and could have nothing to touch or rub against her tender skin – including bedding and tight clothes – due to pain.
Stephanie visited doctors many times to investigate what was happening – leaving $ 15,000 out of her pocket.
Only injections were about $ 900.
“Doctors had no idea what was happening,” he said. “I had been tested almost daily and I was told that it could be an autoimmune or lyme disease.”
It was not until it discovered a forum of people who had been poisoned by Botox, recognized its symptoms – and that injection can spread in rare cases, paralyzing other parts of the body.
There is now frequent physical treatment to facilitate its nerve and muscular harm
Stephanie said she doesn’t know why she got injections in the first place and that she now hugs her wrinkles
The first happened in Stephanie and in March 2024 was diagnosed with medical sausage after doctors to nail the timetable and association of its symptoms in the injections of Xeomin – including Botulinum neurotoxins.
“It was a bittersweet moment,” he said.
“But there is no cure and no promise that I will be 100 percent back to normal.
“I was shocked to see how many people had influenced this.”
Two years after injections, Stephanie continues to suffer daily with the constant effects of poisoning.
There is now a frequent natural treatment to facilitate the damage to its nerves and muscles – and has begun to test the treatment of ozone IV and to see a comprehensive doctor who adopts a more holistic approach to her health.
She and her husband, Tanner, 33, get every day as they come.
“Now looking back, I don’t even know why I had the injections in the first place,” he said. “My wrinkles have come back and hug them.
“I am more active and able to do more things with my daughter. But now, I want to create more awareness of the dangers of Botulinum neurotoxins.
“I was perfectly appropriate and healthy, so if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.”
