Like most Brits, my social calendar quickly filled up for the rest of the year as Christmas approached.
And while I’ll never say no to a party and a free glass of bubbly, it terrifies me to think about the many hours I’ll spend grooming myself to look party-worthy.
From waxing, plucking, tanning, moisturizing and hair coloring, the list of beauty treatments required to make sure I look and feel my best for party season is exhaustive.
And one thing I always take care of is my teeth.
Although I don’t have serious staining on my teeth, I can notice that they don’t look as bright and shiny as I would like.
But I’m not the only one, Mintel research shows that 82% of all adults whiten their teeth before a special occasion.

HAIR THIS!
The exact number of times you should wash your hair if you want it to grow
Going to the dentist for a whitening treatment can set you back hundreds (something I don’t want to incur in this season of Christmas shopping already), and many of the at-home whitening strips leave my teeth very sensitive.
So I decided to give it a go Colgate Max White Purple Teeth Whitening Serum to go
At £10 for a 40ml tube, the serum should last you a while, whether daily use or as a weekly supplement.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I have tried many at home whitening products and have been quite disappointed.
From DIY bicarbonate scrubs, to using charcoal and whitening pens, every one of them has failed to give me the pearly whites I crave.
So when I opened the product and squeezed the purple gel onto my toothbrush, I wasn’t expecting immediate results.
The product claims to instantly brighten smiles using color-correcting purple pigments, while its micro-brightening minerals work to remove surface blemishes.
And you only need a small pump to get results – it costs just 20p each time you use it.
I was surprised to see how dark the color of the serum was and had a good laugh watching my teeth turn deep purple as I brushed the serum.
What was it beautifulwas that this serum didn’t have any manual scrubbing in the formula, meaning I didn’t have to worry about removing any polish.
The dream night beauty routine, according to the experts
SHUBHI Grover, Chief Consumer & Beauty at Sapience Communications gave her absolute no-nonsense for the night…
- A gentle double cleanse to remove SPF and impurities – double cleansing is my holy grail
- An ultra-hydrating serum with peptides or hyaluronic acid
- A silk pillowcase to reduce friction – great for both skin and hair
- And on my hair: a light scalp serum and a loose protective braid or silk bonnet
He added: “I would say it’s less evil, more science and most importantly, the consistency is far from over.”
RESULTS
After gently rubbing the serum in for two minutes, I was eager to see if it made any difference.
It took me another five minutes or so to get the dark serum out of my teeth, but once it was done, I was shocked.
My teeth looked whiter, the stains seemed less noticeable and what I loved the most was that they were so much brighter and brighter.
Even my friend did a double take for me and commented that they were much brighter without me having to ask if he noticed anything different.
PERFECT THOUGHTS
After a careful ten-minute inspection in the mirror, countless selfies, and my boyfriend’s comment, I choked on my new smile.

At £10, I think this is a cheap buy that will instantly brighten up your Christmas party and put a smile on your face in all the photos from the night.
It’s easy and quick to use, doesn’t leave teeth sensitive, and can be done just before you rush out of the house.
