Deep -level facelifts may have had their share vibrant news In 2025, but also has a less invasive facial surgery. If you have noticed a sudden influx of photos before and after people’s bags, they seem to be pulling a remarkable extinct act, you can thank the growing popularity of the lower blepharoplasty.
Elephant, the medical term for eyelid surgery, includes the removal of excess skin, muscles and fat surrounding the eyelids. The two most common targets of upper blepharoplasty face signs of aging, such as mouse or skin relaxation or surgically adjusting the eyelash that damage the patient’s vision line (a condition known as PToss).
While upper blephs are not a new meal on the cosmetic surgery menu – we’ve all seen a celebrity or 10 whose upper lids look magically elevated to their eyebrows – Lower Blephs are a different ball game. It can take years, even decades, from a person, giving the patient a more youthful, effortless noble appearance.
The sharp increase in lower blepharoplasty
Jimmy sangA plastic surgeon certified by the Board of Directors in New York has begun to be initially observed in the growing popularity of the lower blephapharns in 2023.
“Certainly there is a uppick,” he agreed Douglas monasebianA plastic surgeon certified by the Board of Directors in New York. Highlights the US company plastic surgeons company 2024 reportwhich showed that blepharoplasty was one of the top five cosmetic plastic surgery of the year for the third consecutive year. (The other four are liposuction, breast growth, bastard and breast lift, in this order.)
The demographic seeking lower looks is also distorted much younger now. Before, a Bleph was likely to be oriented towards someone older, but both doctors note that the average age of a lower patient Bleph is more likely to be much younger: in their 40s. Some patients with lower bleph are even in their thirties, although Monasebian says when this is happening, they are mainly for genetic or hereditary reasons.
The transformative power of the lower eyelids
Part of the reason for emerging popularity and accessibility of the lower Blephs could be new surgical techniques. “The most up -to -date process is called Transconjuntival Fat Pransposition,” explained Dr. Sung. This technique passes through the conjunctiva, or pink, mucosa-you part of your skin you see when you pull your eyelid down. By cutting this area, there is no visible scar because the scar is inside your skin.
The fat transport, explains Dr. Sung, releases the existing joint that holds the skin in the bone. While many dramatic photos before and after surgeons may pass and remove Fat from the Undereye bag, this technique opens the bottom of the eyelid on the cheek, creating a smooth line.

It is not a perfect example, but the listening to Dr. Sung’s explanation reminded me of the physics of a lingerie line. Sometimes there is not even much material there, but the line itself makes it look bulky. If you were wearing long Johns, you will still wear underwear-and you still have all your fat at the bottom-eye-you will simply move the line down to a less visible place. “Get a shopping bag, take a scissors and cut it,” said Dr. Sung. “You can no longer limit anything to this bag. Anything will go straight to the cheek.”
This technique means that after surgery, you are looking at about a week of “social interruption”, says Sung. You may have swelling around your eyes the first two or three days and have some secretion coming out of your eyes, adds, but after 72 hours, you should be through the worst of it. Both doctors say that surgery should take about an hour and run you anywhere from $ 5,000 to $ 10,000 and that insurance will usually not cover for cosmetic reasons.
