Kensington mums were delighted to visit this lovely dental practice owned by brother and sister – Dr Yevhen Hunyak and Dr Roksolana Mykhalus. Coming from a medical family background, both know the importance of taking preventive measures from a young age to ensure a healthy dental lifestyle. Following their passion, dentistry, they opened two central London practices in Chelsea and Marylebone – to offer yours and your children a fear-free, family-focused dental experience, as well as offering services for adults.
Their motto: “Kids love us. Parents trust us. Dentists rely on our expertise.” We can fully support it!
If I only had the chance to go back in time to a practice like Happy Kids Dental, it would have saved my mom going through those tough times as I was terrified knowing we had to go to the dentist. I was always afraid for my life. It was just terrible. We all know how important it is to have healthy teeth and that we need to ensure our little ones have the best dental health from the start – yes, that includes their baby teeth.
They have a team of specialist pediatric dentists who are experienced in working with special educational needs and always speak to children using the right words that they can relate to and most importantly understand.
During these pandemic years, I was very impressed to learn that they are the only dental offices that offer disinfection facilities that are hospital grade. They follow a 7-step protocol to ensure each instrument is sterile and perform regular quality checks. All their equipment including doors, surfaces, floor, clothes and air are disinfected several times a day according to hygiene and safety standards.
They offer all types of pediatric dental treatments covering everything from prevention to more complex procedures requiring general anesthesia. They also offer dental services for adults.
The Kensington Mums Experience
Before our appointment we received an email confirming our visit. We also received another separate email with a form to fill in regarding health and all related information including favorite cartoons and favorite games my son enjoys the most. Giving them, in advance, a complete overview of the children’s preferences.
From the moment we entered the Chelsea practice, my son was just running towards the door as their entrance served their young patients with colorful pictures on the wall leading to their reception team.
Isobel immediately greeted us as we walked in with a warm smile. As I introduced myself, he immediately knew who we were and greeted my son by name and escorted us into the waiting room where my son’s favorite cartoon was playing on the TV! He immediately offered if we wanted drinks. My son was more than happy to stay there playing as it looks like a super fun play area as opposed to a dental waiting room. Providing parents and in addition little ones a fear-free environment prior to their consultation.
Isobel soon came into the waiting area to announce that Dr. Jasmine Cachia Mintoff, a pediatric dentist, was ready to see my son. He then escorted us to their second floor where they have another smaller nicely decorated waiting area with a TV designed to distract and calm young children before they are called. Less than 3 minutes after we were called and introduced to Dr. Jasmine and her dentist. Their consultation rooms are very nice and equipped with the latest technology plus they have a screen on the ceiling that played my son’s favorite cartoon too! So children can have fun while their little mouths are being examined. Trust me, my son was so distracted watching TV that he opened his mouth without a problem throughout the consultation.
Dr. Jasmine was so professional and took the time to explain everything to me and my son in the best possible way so he understood everything she was saying and how important it is to brush his teeth and maintain good oral hygiene.
My son has a very sweet tooth and she also explained to him that eating sweets was not the best thing, especially eating them as often as we do! He even explained that drinking juice is also not good as it is also sugar. Dr. Jasmine was so good at explaining this to my son that he told me 2 days after our visit “mom the dentist said not to drink juice so I’ll have some water please”. I was shocked and so happy to hear this as Dr. Jasmine had such a positive impact on my son.
My son, like any 3 year old, has yet to learn the importance of brushing his own teeth and even if I do, I have a very hard time asking him to open wide or allow me to reach the right angle when he brushes his teeth. Knowing this, dear Dr. Jasmine, after the consultation she took her time and took us to a corner of the clinic where they have a hippopotamus and a shark both with their mouths open and showing their teeth where children can brush their teeth with a big toothbrush they have. A fun way to explain the brushing technique to them. He then asked my son to go ahead and do it himself and then asked me to help him as well. We properly cleaned the shark’s sub and teeth together. Dr Jasmine then, once the consultation was over, gave my son some options to choose from a whole range of beautiful stickers they have.
Dr. Jasmine recommended a deep cleaning after the thorough checkup. We were lucky enough to get a same day appointment with dentist Leepika Beechouk who is very professional and most importantly she was great with my son. Exactly what every parent is looking for or should I say chasing when it comes to finding a dental office for their children.
Leepika took her time to explain to my son and myself everything she was going to do so she knew and there were no surprises at all. He was so calm and allowed her to clean perfectly. This is just priceless to see and is what every mum should have, a nice calm experience with their little ones at the dentist. Just finished cleaning. Leepika explained to him that she was going to apply some fluoride varnish and so he would not be able to eat or drink for the next 30 minutes. They gave him a bottle of water to drink before applying the fluoride. Choose banana flavored fluoride. Again, after this consultation is over, choose another sticker!
We then headed to reception where Isobel greeted us once again and gave us the voucher for the award tower! Yes, you read that right, you can get your little one after being brave during the Prize Tower consultation, where once the coupon is placed in the slot, they turn the knob and sliding down comes a small ball with a surprise toy so get a reward for their good behavior! This is an awesome idea and my son was thrilled.
After many of you asked us where to take our little ones to the dentist – this is the place, look no further as you will be so glad you chose Happy Kids Dental like we did!
I really can’t rave enough about the level of service and fantastic experience we received from the first point of contact we had when scheduling our consultation.
