- The makers of the Tummy Tuck Miracle Slimming System were fined nearly $1 million for misleading claims.
- The original system is no longer available except through limited resale opportunities. However, similar belly slimming belts are still on the market.

Is There Any Science Behind The Belly Band?
The company that makes the Tummy Tuck Belt claims that without changing any of your current habits, you can lose 1/2 inch from your waist in the first week of using the system and 1 inch after 30 days.
The company also claimed that if you choose to change your diet and exercise habits, the effect of the Tummy Tuck Belt System can be up to four times greater.
Despite the claims, there is no scientific proof that the Tummy Tuck Belt works.
To provide evidence, clinical studies should look at whether a person using the Tummy Tuck Belt has better results than a person not using the product under the same conditions. But no such studies have been done.
The claim that the heat generated by the product is enough to “melt” fat has not been proven and in fact, the company advises that “results may vary” from its use.
Additionally, the Tummy Tuck Miracle Slimming System does not need to be scrutinized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as medical devices must be. Over-the-counter products such as the Tummy Tuck Belt are classified as low risk (Class I) by the FDA and do not require premarket approval.
But what about the before and after pictures?
On the Tummy Tuck Belt website, there are ultrasound images from a person who used the product, which are meant to suggest that the claims are backed up by evidence. The images appear to show a reduction in abdominal fat thickness before and after Tummy Tuck Belt treatment.
Another user’s thermal vision photo was also featured on the Tummy Tuck Belt website to show how the temperature of the treated area remained high for three hours after using the product. This image was intended to suggest that increasing body temperature can help to “melt” fat.
But these images are not the same as a controlled research study. Most importantly, it’s not known if the person in the images used the band alone or also made dietary changes and did an exercise program in line with the company’s advice.
It would not be surprising that people using the Tummy Tuck Belt system had better results when they made changes to their diet and exercise routine, as lifestyle factors are known to support weight loss.
So it’s not clear from the pictures whether using the Tummy Tuck Belt alone led to an improvement or not.
Does accelerator cream work to burn belly fat?
Consumers may also wonder if “acceleration cream” used alongside the belt can provide any benefit.
But the cream is made with emollients and ingredients commonly found in skin care products. The only possible active ingredient is caffeine and there is no evidence that topical caffeine has “fat burning” properties.
The bottom line
No scientific studies have been done to support the claims made by the 10-Minute Home Tummy Tuck Method.
Is the 10 minute tummy tuck still available?
The Tummy Tuck Miracle Slimming System was advertised as an alternative to a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). Also known as the “10-Minute At-Home Tummy Tuck Method,” the tummy tuck was sold online and at retailers like Walmart.
Tummy tuck lawsuit
In late 2017, a judge ruled that the makers of the Tummy Tuck Belt, Savvier, Inc., made misleading claims about their products. Specifically, they mischaracterized the product as a medical device or drug without any competent and credible scientific evidence that Tummy Tuck worked.
The company was also found guilty of failing to disclose return charges and auto-renewal terms.
As a result, the company was fined and agreed to pay nearly $1 million in restitution.
Current Availability
You can still find the original Tummy Tuck Miracle Slimming System (including the belt) online at some resellers such as eBay. But the original system is no longer available through the company that originally built it.
You may also see several belts that look like the Tummy Tuck belt. The belts claim to help reduce belly and/or waist fat.
However, these belts lack scientific support and experts continue to advise against their use.
How to use the tummy tuck belt
The Tummy Tuck Belt System begins with a “fat burning” cream—a “Thermal Accelerator”—that you apply to the skin of your abdomen.
Next, you tie on an elastic band and do two minutes of standing stomach contractions to activate a “fat-burning thermal effect.”
For the next eight minutes, you continue your normal routine while keeping the belt on. When the time is up, you take off the belt.
The Tummy Tuck Belt routine is done twice a day, with or without diet and exercise changes.
Alternatives to the Tummy Tuck Belt
There are a few alternatives to the Tummy Tuck Belt that you may want to talk to your provider about as they have more evidence to support their use. That said, they also come with their own limitations and risks that you should consider.
Surgical Options
- Abdominoplasty is an aesthetic operation that makes the abdomen look slimmer and firmer. It removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen to tighten the muscles and tissues of the abdominal wall.
- Liposuction is a surgical procedure where fat is suctioned out of the body
- Body lifting is a procedure to remove loose or hanging skin
Non-surgical options
Treatments such as Coolsculpting are available to reduce fat in specific areas of the body, such as the abdominal area. Coolscuplting is an FDA-approved device that uses “fat freezing” (cryolipolysis) to reduce fat in certain parts of the body.
A small handful of studies also suggest that radiofrequency therapy, low-level laser therapy, and high-frequency ultrasound therapy may help reduce the volume of abdominal fat. However, clinical benefits appear to be minimal to moderate, with no evidence that any of the devices can treat cellulite.
Diet and exercise support weight loss and maintenance, but it will take time to see results—and many people want to see changes sooner. There are also conditions such as pregnancy and heavy weight loss that can cause sagging or loose skin that won’t be corrected with diet and exercise.
