A young woman remains in intensive care after a safe cosmetic procedure turned her family holiday into a nightmare.
West Australian mother-of-three Chloe Mowday, 31, was holidaying in Vietnam with her husband Josh and their five-year-old son after traveling to Bali, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Plans to continue their South East Asian adventure ended a fortnight ago after she underwent rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty on her nose and eyelids.
He spent the night at the anonymous clinic in the coastal city of Da Nang and was discharged the next morning.
Mrs Mowday returned to her hotel, where she was found unresponsive a few hours later as her organs began to shut down.
He was resuscitated en route to the hospital, where he spent two weeks in a coma on life support.
Mrs Mowday has regained consciousness in recent days but remains in ICU in a critical condition on dialysis and has a long road to recovery.
Her brother Rod booked the first flight he could to Vietnam to be by her bedside.

“The doctors said she’s very strong, but when I asked if she’s going to make it, they couldn’t give me a straight answer,” he said. news.com.au.
“What I saw was just heartbreaking. She wasn’t awake, tubes were coming out of her.
“She is on dialysis, has had to have a blood transfusion and is on some medication to bring her blood pressure back to normal. Her legs fell so low that her toes turned black.’
The family are now raising the necessary funds to bring Mrs Mowday back home.
“Doctors have informed us that she has a better chance of getting over it at home in Australia so we are trying to get her home by ambulance as soon as possible,” says a fundraiser organized by her brother.
“I have an offer for the ambulance I have on standby is $125,000 upfront before I fly.
“I have been advised to increase the target of this funding, while we are also trying for bank loans, super access, more hours at work, whatever we can.”
The fundraiser has raised more than $15,000 in five days.

“She is such a beautiful girl and a loving soul with three young children and a loving husband who has been by her side since this happened with their five-year-old son there,” the fundraiser added.
Mrs Mowday is still undergoing tests to determine the exact cause of her illness.
As it became known, a police investigation has also begun.
Recent photos shared on social media show Ms Mowday visiting Disneyland in Hong Kong and enjoying the scenery from her time in Vietnam and Bali.
The family was planning to travel to China when the vacation was cut short.
Da Nang is known for its growing cosmetic surgery scene, where the cost of a rhinoplasty costs $2,076.
The same procedure costs $9,200 in Australia, according to the Medical Tourism Corporation website.
A blepharoplasty costs $2,025, less than a third of what patients would pay in Australia.
