ATLANTA, GA–(Marketwired – Jul 15, 2014) – A variety of surgical and non-surgical methods designed to reduce the signs of facial aging are available to patients these days. Dr. Thomas Lintner, a plastic surgeon in Atlanta, says when meeting with patients interested in facial rejuvenation, it’s important for the patient to thoroughly explain their aesthetic goals. Based on the patient’s response, he says he is able to recommend a procedure that will best meet their needs.
In the first installment of a three-part blog series on facial rejuvenation surgery, Dr. Lintner explains that he doesn’t recommend surgery to treat anything the patient hasn’t identified as an area of concern. The post — titled “Which facial rejuvenation procedure is right for me?” — he goes on to note that he may occasionally recommend an additional procedure if he believes it can provide the patient with improved results.
In a subsequent post titled, “Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Facelift: Which is Better?“, explains Dr. Lintner that some patients may be able to reduce signs of facial aging without a face lift or other surgery, depending on how well they’ve taken care of their skin over the years. Although age is usually a factor in deciding whether cosmetic injectables Or surgery is the best option for facial rejuvenation, he says, adding that some older patients with good skin may not necessarily need surgery. Dr. Lintner also says that patients who may not be candidates for a facelift due to a medical condition can often achieve facial rejuvenation with cosmetic injectables as a safer alternative.
Dr. Lintner concluded his blog series with a post titled, “What is a Mini Facelift?” In the article, he details another option for facial rejuvenation: a mid-face lift, also known as a mini-lift. He says this option can be beneficial for patients who may only be concerned about signs of aging in the mid-face, if and are unhappy with loose skin along the jawline may find a traditional facelift more advantageous.
Ultimately, according to Dr. Lintner, a patient’s age, life experience and personal preferences are what help decide which facial rejuvenation technique is most appropriate. He says a consultation with the patient allows him to assess these factors and create an individualized treatment plan, and urges anyone interested in facial rejuvenation to schedule a consultation with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon.
