MIAMI – Three men were injured during a shooting early Wednesday morning in Miami, and police said one of them was the suspect who started it all.
Shot Spotter tech detected shots fired shortly before 12:30 a.m., in the area of Northwest First Place and 12 Street, in Miami’s Overtown area, according to police.
“It appears the 3 male subjects who were shot may have all been involved in an altercation,” Officer Kiara Delva wrote.
Detectives identified a suspect as Jesus Falu and arrested him at about 5:30 a.m., at Jackson Memorial Hospital. One of the victims was intubated after he was shot in the chest, according to police.
The other victim, who was shot in the leg, told a detective that he and his friend were wearing ski masks in a store “just for fashion” when Falu, 32, complained about this being done in front of his teenage son, according to the arrest form.
The victim said Falu then pointed a gun at his friend’s head, so he was forced to shoot Falu in self-defense, according to the arrest form.
Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
