James Haskell underwent a ‘precautionary’ hair transplant after becoming increasingly concerned about his thinning hairline, MailOnline can reveal.
The former England rugby star, 39, was pictured leaving the Restore Hair Clinic on Harley Street on Tuesday.
Stepping out of the clinic still wearing a blue hospital gown, the 6ft 4in rugby ace turned DJ showed off a freshly shaved head with the scars from the hair restoration procedure clearly visible.
The day before, Haskell told an event in Newcastle that he had been offered the procedure for free and had decided to go ahead with it.
The clinic describes its treatment as follows: “A state-of-the-art, minimally invasive surgery. Mastered by an experienced surgeon.’

Haskell has previously spoken about his anxiety about thinning his straw, saying two years ago that he could “sort it out.”
He added: “Would I have cosmetic surgery? Probably, if I need it.
“I’m going to get my hair done sometime because it’s thinning.
“Would I start getting botox and bits and pieces? Maybe, maybe not, but I don’t think so. The character in the face is important for a man.’
He also addresses the subject of male pattern baldness in his book, writing: “The strange thing is [hair loss] it affects so many men, yet they are the first to absolutely destroy anyone with a hint of submissiveness. I look back at the teammates I grill for their hair and think what the hell I was, now I’m heading down the same path if only slowly.
“Men are very curious at times. I get messages saying, “I think it’s time to shave your head” or “Come on man, get a transplant,” from people I’ve never met. I think they see it as a joke.’
Haskell has returned to the dating scene following his shock split from Chloe Madeley last year after 10 years together.
Earlier this year, he was spotted getting cozy with a mystery woman in the VIP area during a night out at celebrity hangout Gilgamesh in London.
A source said at the time: “James looked like he was having a great time surrounded by friends and lots of women.
“He’s no stranger to getting the ladies’ attention and last night was no different.
“He was talking to a mysterious lady near the bar for some time during the night.
“They looked like they were getting along really well and looked comfortable at times.
Haskell is newly single after the former rugby star split from his wife, Chloe Madeley, last year.
Haskell and Ms. Madeley have remained close since their split, going on many family outings and will soon go on vacation together, according to Ms. Madeley’s father, Richard Madeley.
The 39-year-old was pictured at the event the night before, where he told the audience he had been offered the procedure for free and had decided to go ahead with it

“They were whispering in each other’s ear, smiling a lot and making jokes.
“Even if they were just friends, it was good to see James being the life and soul of the party and having a good time.”
In recent weeks, Chloe’s famous father Richard Madeley has revealed that the two remain close and have even gone on holiday together in France, while Chloe herself admitted this week that they are ‘very good friends’ and ‘spend a lot of time together ».
She revealed that they have a “very happy uncoupling” and that the two – who have a two-year-old daughter Bondi – maintain a “very civilized relationship”, with James visiting their home all the time.
