After the displacement, there was a central shift in the way women see their throats.
Although important, and regularly the first part to show age, they never really got the treatment they deserved. As a result, we all make like Nora Ephron and feel bad for our neck.
Even, there are regimes to correct this. Moisturizing products, SPF and regular use of retinoids are an excellent start. But for those who really want to relieve “Tech Neck”, the folds that can form as a result of the continuous looking down on a device, you have come to the right place.
To a 31 -year -old journalist, I spent all the time looking down either on a phone, laptop or book. As a result, lines are formed. This is okay, we must move in the end, but for the purpose of this column, I decided to see what could be done.
I talked to Dr. George Nema, a famous aesthetic doctor who regularly tends to former Mrs. World Rosanna Davidson and former Mrs Ireland Holly Carpenter. He suggested botox for loosening of the skin of the throat. And in fact, it seems that the FDA agrees. It simply approved Botox Cosmetic to temporarily improve moderate to severe platysma zones (vertical zones connecting the jaw and neck) to adults, signaling a significant progress in aesthetic therapies.
What is it?
Botox, a tightly adjustable neurotoxin, is the golden model to reduce wrinkles. The neck botox is simply a Botox infusion on the neck to relax the neck muscles, thereby reducing wrinkles and fine lines. “The skin of the neck tends to grow faster than the skin on the face,” says Dr. Nema. “The middle face is stronger because of the fat pillows on the cheeks, but the neck does not have that, so the skin is easily weakened.”
Botox, as such, relaxes the muscles to ensure that they are not excessively worked. Do you ever notice these horizontal wrinkles that align your neck when you smile or speak? These are the goals of the Botox of the throat. Because of this, the botox injected into the throat can really help the jaw. “Muscles that pull the face down can create a visible relaxation around Jowls,” says Dr. Nema. “So when they are relaxed, the skin looks more stretched.”
Treatment
The treatment is fast and easy. Dr. Nema used disinfection wipes to clean the areas before asking me to “bring” my muscles – he smiles widely so that he can see these lines – to introduce tiny needles into these areas. A tiny zero becomes noticeable and we are finished.
While we are there, it also inserts my chin – the botox can also be used here to prevent a fold from forming.
“Botox on the chin can help stop the chin as we get older and create cavities,” he says.
“Botox can also be used in massage muscles to avoid tooth tightening, under hands to avoid excessive sweating or over a gummy smile for even things.”
They tell me to avoid touching the areas for two to four hours, but otherwise they continue with everyday life. I don’t look different and I go for the rest of my day.
The results

As with any Botox treatment, things are supposed to kick for about three to five days. However, I certainly feel a pleasant tightening about two days later. My neck skin feels smooth, and my jaw stretched. I also feel slightly elevated around this area, which makes me feel good as I have a mild panic from a very double chinned image of myself that I saw a few years ago.
Next steps? Nothing really. Although some clinics can suggest compresses every three months, Dr. Nema insists that twice a year it is more than enough “especially if you are over 50”.
“At this stage, your muscles have already achieved a state of relaxation, which means that normal botox could put you at risk of atrophy.
For those in his 30s and 40s, three times a year is the absolute maximum he proposes. “Anything over this could potentially be harmful – three times a year for this age group is more than enough.”
As most of us are intended for summer – or what my age team has taken to call the “marriage season” – looking at our best can come at a cost. However, with a stretched jaw and raised neck, I feel like myself, but better, all without a drop of makeup.
