Three Golden Hedström File Go Go to MHH Dental Students
They are now recently specialized dentists and they can not only be proud of successful completion of their dental studies at Hannover Medical School (MHH), but also a very special prize: Dana Büsch, Anne Robke and Ramona Stölk have been honored with Golden Hedström File for their excellent Intraudic performance. This is awarded each year by the authors of the specialist magazine “Endodontie” and the prices of particularly demanding and successful root channel therapies during dental studies.
Proud of excellent treatment by students and training
Professor Nadine Schlüter, director of the MHH clinic for conservative dentistry, periodontology and preventive dentistry, presented the awards: “We are very proud of this award and congratulate our three former students on this special success”. He issued not only the excellent work of young dentists, but also of their trainers. “It is also the value of excellent and highly dedicated education,” said Professor Schlüter, recognizing the commitment of dentist Dr Peggy Herrmann, who trains them. All three students performed the root channel treatments with her in the integrated treatment lesson. This lesson lasted two semesters and ended in July 2024. Dr. Herrmann examined the results of the three root channel therapies worth a prize and submitted them to the jury for evaluation.
Three provocative treatments of the root channels
“These were three very provocative radical channel treatments that deserve recognition and support,” Dr. Herrmann praises. The tooth of Dana Büsch’s patient had previously been treated with filling in the root tube area. A previous caries in this area worsens tooth prognosis. The student was able to save the tooth after the treatment of caries and the subsequent successful treatment of the root channels. Anne Robke’s patient’s tooth had already been crowned and caused problems. With the help of its trainer and the use of an endodontic microscope, the student was able to find and heal the root canals that clog with calcium salts. The Ramona Stölk patient had to even remove an existing filling of the root channel due to refreshed inflammation. In this way, he was able to reveal and face a previously unexplored fourth root channel. With the Golden Hedström award, the three dentists not only received their certificate but also a book award. Both will find a remarkable place in their first workplace.
