In her forthcoming (and extremely timely) new book, Brooke Shields Can’t Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Womanactress and model Brooke Shields shockingly shares that she had surgery on her vagina without her knowledge or consent.
As part of a new interview and quote shared with Us WeeklyBrooke writes that she initially met with the surgeon after learning through her gynecologist that a lipoplasty (where the lips are shortened) could help her with the uncomfortable chafing and bleeding she’s had throughout her life.
Keen to have the surgery for health reasons rather than cosmetic reasons, Brooke says she paid for it as it wasn’t covered by insurance, but when she came home from the doctor’s office she was told by her doctor that he had given her a “little bonus” vaginal procedure revival – which he had neither asked for nor wanted.
The actor likened the incident to rape and said it took her a long time to discuss what had happened with her husband, Chris Henchy.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t embarrassed to share this very intimate information,” reads an excerpt from Brooke’s book.. “But if we want to change the way we approach and talk about women’s health, then we need to highlight the uncomfortable but very real issues. Shame is no longer an option.”
On the subject of the vaginal reanimation procedure, also known as a vaginal tightening, Brooke said, “It felt like such an invasion — such a weird, like, rape of some kind.”
It supports the incredibly valid point that the surgeon assumed they were doing something kind for her, carrying out the non-consensual i.p. As certainly, all women must are they unhappy about their vaginal tightening? (Note the sarcasm).
“[The surgeon] He justifiably proudly explained to me that, you know, he dropped a little two [meaning two-for-one]Brooke explained. “There was nothing to indicate that it should be tighter or smaller or firmer or newer, especially there.”
The unwanted operation is unfortunately irreversible and both the actress and her gynecologist were seen as incredibly angry afterwards.
Brooke adds that she chose not to take legal action against the surgeon as “I thought, I don’t want anyone else to tell me what to do.”
