This material is approved by Health Canada and has also been CE marked 1639. NextDent Base is the third generation of the company’s denture base material for 3D printing and has excellent mechanical properties such as high fracture resistance and accurate and repeatable printability.
NextDent Base is truly comparable to conventional denture materials and provides patients with long-lasting, impact-resistant dentures. Additionally, the material is available in four colors to match the most popular gum shades for improved aesthetics. Using NextDent Base as part of 3D Systems’ digital dental workflow helps develop new levels of speed, productivity, efficiency and accuracy while providing opportunities to improve the patient experience.
NextDent Base is already receiving positive feedback in the market. Steven Campbell, RDT FCGDent, with Nexus Dental Laboratory (Harrogate, UK) conducted trials with the material and said: “This new material is truly amazing! No support bar in the heels, lovely delicate supports that are easily removed and the fit of the teeth on the denture and the denture on the bar show how stable this is. We’ve only just started testing with it, but already I can see that the power of this will make it an incredible piece of hardware to watch. We’re so confident in the power we’re seeing in the early prints that we’re going to run some test pieces with it.”
Additionally, Dr. Kunal Lal, DDS, MS, Board Certified Prosthodontist, at LAL Dental (New York, NY) said, “I really enjoyed trying the NextDent abutment material. It is pink, flexible in thinner sections and can be used for same-day RPD intermediate fabrication. Some of the other properties worth noting are minimal mixing, cleaning of residual material on the surface is easier and improved strength.’
The adoption of 3D printing for the production of prosthetics continues to accelerate, but there are still significant opportunities. According to 360 Research Reports, the global 3D Printed Dentures market size is estimated to exceed $1 billion in 2021 and is projected to exceed $2 billion by 2028. The use of digital workflows such as 3D digital dentistry solution Systems, which includes NextDent Base hardware, together with NextDent 3D printing technology with reliable connection to industry-leading software packages, results in a complete workflow, including post-processing to ensure the best possible product.
With 3D Systems’ NextDent solution, dental labs and clinics are now able to produce dental devices at dramatically increased speed while reducing material waste and capital equipment costs as well as reliance on milling centers. The benefits also extend to the patient by reducing the time required to produce the prosthesis, as well as the number of required office visits.
“Our goal is to make sure we meet our customers’ needs with our solutions, and this is another step in achieving that goal,” said Chuck Stapleton, vice president and general manager, dental, 3D Systems.
“By licensing NextDent Base, we continue to add to our portfolio of dental 3D printing materials that enable dental labs and clinics to address a wide range of applications. These offerings help our customers accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing as part of their workflows and drive new levels of speed, productivity, efficiency and accuracy, while providing opportunities to improve the patient experience.”
NextDent Base is the latest addition to 3D Systems’ portfolio of 30 unique NextDent resins – the largest number available from any dental 3D printing material supplier.
NextDent 3D printing materials for medical devices are biocompatible and CE certified under the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC, FDA listed and registered in several other countries. The complete NextDent portfolio – both medical and non-medical devices – is suitable for a wide range of 3D printed dental applications.
