Many dental clinics abroad, including Slovakia-based dental clinic- Smile Clinic-Dental Holiday, provide dental implants. anywhere from an implant to full jaw reconstruction. They answer your questions about temporary implant bridges and explain why and when they will be used in the treatment process.
When receiving dental implants there is a healing process that must take place between the time the implant is placed in place and when the patient must return to the dentist after the implant has healed.
The patient often asks “What happens between the initial surgery and when I return for my second visit after the implant has healed?”
What happens next?
After implant placement a temporary implant bridge/crown is placed. A temporary implant bridge consists of a temporary abutment and an acrylic material that is placed in place only for the healing period for aesthetic reasons.
A temporary implant bridge is offered to a patient if…
The front teeth are replaced by dental implants or for full arch restoration.
No removable dentures or toothless healing period — fix your teeth in one visit!
Check if the dental clinic offers “teeth in one visit” dental implants with a temporary bridge/crown. After a full mouth reconstruction the patient’s existing dentures can be modified, so after the implant is placed the patient will have teeth during the healing period, which means no one will notice a difference.
The temporary bridge/crowns should not be removed. Temporary solutions should also be free (check to make sure) and are usually not covered by warranty, however your permanent implants should be.
The temporary denture/bridge is provided so that the patient can function normally and no one will notice that the implants are healing underneath. Healing caps are placed on the implants and should also be provided free of charge. Check if your dental clinic abroad has a laboratory. Onsite labs provide a more efficient way to handle bridges, crowns, and other dental work by reducing the need to make multiple office visits, especially between treatment sessions.
However, the implant is still healing and these “temporary teeth” are built for cosmetic reasons and you should only eat soft food while healing takes place. You should allow a few weeks for the implant(s) to firmly grip the jawbone.
Here are some examples of temporary — non-removable bridges after dental implants are placed
