A man has been brutally trolled after proudly showing off his £4,000 worth of temporary teeth he got out in Turkey.
Dave Chudley, best known to fans for his tattoo-related content, took to TikTok to share the brand new pearly whites – however, the reaction wasn’t positive.
According to the ink whizz, his natural grinds were “always in excellent condition” – and even the specialist at the dental clinic in Turkey was impressed with his “thick and strong” teeth.
But although there was a small chip in one of his front teeth which he had fixed four times, Dave’s teeth were never in ‘bad shape’ and that was not why he opted for the £4k makeover. .
“That’s not why I did it,” he recently explained in a video posted on its platformadding that it was all in the name of “vanity”.
Although there was the option of opting for Invisalign or just whitening the natural pearly whites in the UK, Dave claimed that this was not something he wanted.
Instead, the tattoo fan flew to Turkey, which has become one of the hottest destinations for cheap makeovers and shelled out thousands for porcelain veneers.
After his real teeth had been filed, Dave admitted they had become “very sensitive” and found the fitting of the temporary braces anything but “pleasant”.
Once the temporary teeth were in, the ink super enthusiast noted that they felt “quite uncomfortable” and he also struggled to eat solid foods due to the strange sensation.
“I could only have soup, eating was very uncomfortable,” Dave shared his experience on the platform.
Although the tattoo whiz has yet to unveil the latest white pearls – which he’s told will last for ”15-20 years” – there’s already been a huge backlash on social media.
Hundreds of TikTok users have since rushed to comments to share their thoughts, which has completely divided everyone.
One person, for example, was of two minds and wrote: ”One of the best sets I’ve seen.
“Turn the brightness down like 4 and they look so real.”
Another warned: “8 to 10 years it will take all those crowns to be removed, I’m afraid that’s what happened to me.”
Another shouted: ”You ruined all your teeth for temporary veneers – you won’t have teeth when they’re gone.”
“Here’s an idea guys, just watch your teeth and then you can look and laugh with plastic turkey teeth,” wrote a fourth.
Not everyone was scoffing at the temporary smile though, as one told Dave: ”Man, they look great.”
”They look really good! Not like fake piano keys,” another added.
”They look very natural! I’m actually quite surprised it’s Turkish teeth!” another couldn’t believe the difference between the Before and After.
What you need to know before getting your teeth done in Turkey
Although thousands of Britons flock abroad each year in the hope of a new set of pearly whites, dentists have warned of the dangers of traveling to Turkey for this dental treatment.
This is because veneers are not permanent – however, the process of placing them is irreversible.
To get the so-called turkey teeth, you have to file down your natural teeth to fit the new veneers.
As your natural tooth enamel will not grow back, you will always need some type of veneer to fit.
Harley Street Smile Clinic told The Liverpool Echo: “Our clinic has been inundated over the last two years with young people who have been misled by favorable cosmetic dental centers in Turkey.
Turkey Teeth Problems
- Severe pain that lasts
- Excessively sensitive teeth
- Exposed nerves
- Veneers that don’t fit properly can be too big or too small
- Infected gums, which can spread to the sinuses and even the bones if left untreated
- Rotten teeth
- Excessive swelling
- Poorly bonded veneers can fall off easily
“Having been left with the harsh reality of a lifetime of dental work, which costs far more than the cost of veneers in the UK, often our clients have no idea what work they have actually done or what is involved in fixing the problem.”
Dr Maurice Johannes, lead dentist at Harley Street Smile Clinic, echoed the concerns, saying: “I cannot stress enough that people need to be 100% clear about exactly what they are signing up for when they go abroad for cosmetic dental treatment.
“Although patients are under the impression that they have veneers, they are actually crowns, which means much more aggressive tooth reduction.
“Katie [Price] he may be happy with the final appearance, but with this amount of tooth reduction he massively increases the risk of nerve damage and root canal treatment.”
