She claimed she spent £27,000 to get her ‘perfect’ look by flying abroad for ‘Turkey teeth’.
Maisie went viral as she shared videos of herself on TikTok, debuting her bright white bites and gushing about how much she loved her new look.
While people wondered if she was pulling their legs, Maisie continued to insist she was thrilled with her veneers – despite the pain she was feeling.
“Turkey teeth” have become popular in recent years – with thousands of Brits shaving their natural teeth down to the pegs for cheap veneers.
Although they are still expensive, they are a fraction of the cost of visiting a British dentist – adding to their appeal.
And despite some saying they loved her new look, others were less impressed, with Maisie even being trolled by her own son.
“What do you think of mom’s new teeth?” Maisie asked her son.
“It’s okay,” he replied.
“But you look like Gnasher from Dennis the Menace!”
“That’s very rude!” Maisie replied.
Others also suggested he might have, with one writing: “The dedication to keep this going at every location is hilarious. Love it.”
“This honestly can’t be serious,” laughed another.
However, the prank managed to fool some, until Maisie revealed that the teeth were actually a prank.
And the joke is about trolls too.
While Maisie didn’t want to reveal how much money she made from the prank, she told Fabulous that it earned her a staggering 20,000 new followers on TikTok.
Plus all he had to do was buy a £4 pair of fake veneers on Amazon.
In her big reveal video, Maisie boasted: ‘Nine out of 10 of you have been fooled.
“These cost me £4 from Amazon!
“You do the math.
“So those who laugh last, laugh the most!”
What you need to know about turkey teeth
Although thousands flock abroad each year in hopes of a new set of white pearls, experts have warned of the dangers of traveling to Turkey for the popular treatment.
This is because part of this process involves filing down your natural chips in order for the new veneers to fit.
As natural tooth enamel will not grow back, beauty enthusiasts will always require the placement of some kind of veneer.
Dr Maurice Johannes, lead dentist at Harley Street Smile Clinic, echoed the concerns, saying: “I cannot stress enough that people need to be 100% clear about exactly what they are signing up for when they go abroad for cosmetic dental treatment.
“Although patients are under the impression that they have veneers, they are actually crowns, which means much more aggressive tooth reduction.
“Someone like Katie [Price] he may be happy with the final appearance, but with this amount of tooth reduction he massively increases the risk of nerve damage and root canal treatment.”
“Awesome girl, well done,” one person wrote in the comments.
As another added: “You have to give it to her!
“Fair play girl!
“The amount of chaos this has unleashed! Truly magnificent!”
“It was fun!” a third laughed.
“I even followed you from Holland!! Nice joke!”
“Girl, you had me!” someone else wrote.
Maisie has since revealed that she is, in fact, planning to pull teeth out of the turkey, but probably won’t be going for such a bright, white pair as in the prank videos.
