Rio Ferdinand shows off the results of his hair and beard transplant.
The 45-year-old flew to Istanbul’s Dr Cinik Hospital to undergo the makeover, with the clinic sharing a video of the soccer star’s visit on social media.
“I’m here to fix my beard, I’ve got a few holes, a few patches,” Rio said in the clip.
“Do my hair transplant. I can’t wait to do it. Listen, if you’re ever thinking about doing your own thing, this is the place to be.”
The clip shows various parts of the athlete’s hair journey, with Rio adding to the clinic’s wall of football shirts by giving them a signed Man Utd shirt.
Dr. Cinik captioned the post: “Rio Ferdinand, the legendary captain of Manchester United and mainstay of the England national team, trusted the renowned Dr. Cinik Hospital in Turkey for his remarkable hair transformation.”
“Witness his journey from triumph to triumph as he embraces a bold new look with zeal and confidence, rewriting the book of success!” they continued.
Rio adds to the list of football stars – including Bacary Sagna, Ryan Babel and Diego Lugano – who have visited Dr Cinik Hospital for a range of treatments in the past.
His transplant came after he revealed that he dyed any gray patches in his beard in 2021.
Said the dad of five The Mid Point Podcast with Gabby Logan: “I dye my beard sometimes, I get gray hairs here. I paint it. I think it looks better.
“I’m not ashamed of having gray hair, I don’t care, but it looks better if it’s all monochrome.”
“If everything went gray, all the beard was gray, I would let it go. But it’s like a patchwork,” he added, according to the Mail Online.
Rio’s transplant comes after he and wife Kate Ferdinand – who married in 2019 – welcomed their second child together, baby girl Shae, in July.
They also share son Chris, three, together.
Rio has three children – Lorenz, 17, Tate, 15 and Tia, 12 – with his first wife Rebecca Ellison, too. Sadly she died of breast cancer in 2015.
