An obese man is the first in the UK to undergo pioneering surgery to remove excess skin after losing a whopping 13 stone.
Jordan Martinez, 22, weighed 25 stone before embarking on an intensive weight loss program in December 2015.
Despite losing so much weight, Jordan felt insecure about his body due to the excess skin hanging over him.
The now fitter looked into alternative methods to remove his skin after conventional surgery was out of his budget.
Jordan then decided to undergo a ground-breaking 360-degree body lift for just £6,000 – the first of its kind in the UK.
The surgery involves removing excess skin from the entire body and tightening the muscles around the abdominal area.
Jordan, from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, said: “I would rather die in surgery than live with my excess skin.
“Even though I was the first person to have this surgery, I knew it was what I had to do to feel complete.
“I was nervous because people were telling me that I could realistically bleed to death on the table because they were doing surgery all over my body at once, but I was confident that I was in safe hands.
“But I was no longer willing to tuck my skin into my jeans every morning before I left the house.
“After just five hours of surgery and the removal of all my excess skin, I felt like a new person as soon as I woke up.”
When Jordan was just 19, his doctor told him to lose weight or die young.
He joined Slimming World and within two years had halved his body weight.
“I had been bullied for years at school, being called Jabba the Hut, as well as being picked on for my size,” he said.
“And after dealing with it for so many years and being told how dangerous my weight was, I decided to join Slimming World.
HOW JORDAN’S DIET CHANGED
Jordan’s diet before weight loss:
BREAKFAST: Half a box of cornflakes with milk and sugar
LUNCH: Large Big Mac, two large portions of fries, cheeseburger, apple pie, milkshake
DINNER: 15 inch Doner Meat Pizza, Large Curly Fries
SNACKS: Two tubs of ice cream, shared bag of peanut m&m’s, multi-pack of chips, large chocolate bar
MIDNIGHT MEAL: Family Chinese orders Spring rolls, minced beef, fried rice, noodles
After losing weight
BREAKFAST: Grilled bowl of milk
LUNCH: Chicken tikka wrap, bag of low calorie chips
DINNER: Spaghetti bolognese
SNACKS: Low calorie ice cream
“But after losing around 10 stone I noticed my skin was starting to sag and I knew I wasn’t going to have an ironing board stomach.
“I looked like a sack of potatoes and I knew I would get so far that I couldn’t quit, but money was the main issue.
“So I started a fundraising page to raise the money for the surgery and eventually a consultant surgeon contacted me and saw how desperate I was and arranged the breakthrough surgery.”
Now, Jordan weighs 12 stone and is paying back the £6,000 loan he took out to fund his operation.
Jordan said he is overwhelmed with the results of his surgery and feels like a whole new person.
“I feel complete now and it has changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined,” she added.
“I used to have to drive three doors down to the supermarket to get junk food, but now I’ve quit my call center job to become a fitness instructor.
“I go to the gym three times a week and now I work on my body, while still being able to treat myself once in a while.
“Despite the fear before the surgery, I’m so glad I took the risk and it made my life worth living again.”
