A British mother of three has died after cosmetic surgery in Turkey.
Demi Agoglia, 26, complained of chest pains days after butt lift surgery in Brazil and died the same day she was due to return home to Salford, Greater. Manchester.
She was returning to the Istanbul clinic for a check-up after the operation on Thursday, but suffered a heart attack in a taxi as her partner Bradley Jones desperately tried to give her CPR.
He was rushed to intensive care but sadly died on Monday.
Demi, whose youngest son is seven months old, is believed to have suffered a series of heart attacks caused by a fat embolism.
He flew to Turkey for the surgery, even though he had undergone “botched” dental work and other surgery in the past.
Her distraught brother Karl says her family and partner tried to talk Demi out of getting the job done – and is warning anyone thinking of going to Turkey for surgery not to.
Carl, 37, he told the Sun: “It is tragic what happened. We are just in shock. He went to Constantinople to do so.
“She had previously gone to get her teeth done. Nobody wanted to come out and do it, but he’s one of those people.
“Her partner is still out there and his dad just flew out there to be with him.
“If anyone is thinking of flying to Turkey for business, I would say don’t do it. Her boyfriend didn’t want to do it either.
But she’s 26 and has a mind of her own. Her mom didn’t want her to go out either.
“We were told her boyfriend had to perform CPR on her in a taxi.
“We believe they both went back to the clinic for a checkup and that he collapsed at the clinic.
“They put her in a taxi with her partner. Something happened in the taxi. He couldn’t breathe.
“He had to do CPR. I don’t know if he came and died in the hospital. This is unclear. We don’t know the full details.
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a surgical procedure where a doctor transfers fat from the abdomen, hips, lower back or thighs to the buttocks.
The result is more of an hourglass figure, with larger buttocks.
It can also lead to a smaller waist if the fat comes from your belly or lower back.
Doctors remove the fat using liposuction.
Risks include injecting fat too deeply leading to fat embolism, where fat enters the bloodstream and travels to the heart or lungs and can end up blocking arteries or veins.
In 2022 the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) issued new guidelines to members after a four-year hiatus from BBLs taking place in the UK due to concerns about the mortality rate.
He recommends surgeons only inject fat under the skin and not deep into the muscles like a BBL.
“I believe there will be a coroner’s report there. Her partner needs a death certificate before he can come home.
“He’s only 26, he shouldn’t have died. Just don’t do it, it’s so high risk. He should never have done that. He is survived by three young children.
“I was just told this morning. Her two older children were away with their dad and came home early and told. She also has a seven-month-old baby.’
Demi’s younger sister Georgina also shared a touching tribute to Demi on TikTok, saying: “I lost my sister yesterday. I miss you so much Demi. Nothing is real anymore. How can you leave
“I just want to hear you scream okay Rkid nothing is ever the same without you I love you Demi x.”
Brazilian facelifts, or BBLs, have unfortunately proven to be fatal in the past.
Melissa Kerr died hours after the operation, while Leah Cambridge may not have been properly informed about the risks of the surgery before she died in 2019.
