It turns out that Jeff Bezos wasn’t done buying properties in Miami yet. Indian Creek Island, aka “Billionaire Bunker”. THE Founder of Amazon just quietly spent $90 million to add a third property on the ultra-exclusive man-made island to its vast real estate portfolioaccording to Bloomberg.
As of August 2023, Bezos lost $68 million on his first parcel of Indian Creek, a nearly three-acre property with a 9,259-square-foot concrete house. Barely two months later, he bought the neighboring $79 million Mediterranean-style mansion. With its most recent acquisition, made off-market, the Founder of Blue Origin owns an estimated $177 million property on the island in Biscayne Bay.
According to records, the current structure was built in 2002. According to the New York Post, Bezos plans to stay in his new house while razing the two neighboring homes. The 300-acre island is home to just 41 residential properties (one of which is owned by Tom Bradyanother by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner), so it’s a rather bold move for the billionaire to take over the trio of properties and demolish two of them. “Properties on the island are already scarce, so there’s no doubt that Bezos’ off-market deals will piss off a few who are considering buying homes there,” an anonymous source told the outlet.
In November, Bezos announced he was moving from Seattle to Miami. “My parents have always been my biggest supporters. They recently moved back to Miami, where we lived when I was younger,” he wrote on Instagram. “I want to be close to my parents and (fiancée) Lauren (Sanchez) and I love Miami. Additionally, Blue Origin’s operations are increasingly moving to Cape Canaveral.
Bezos’ latest building is a six-bedroom, nine-bathroom home spanning more than 12,000 square feet. The 1.8-acre property last publicly changed hands in 1998 for $2.5 million. Aerial photos from Google Earth reveal a sprawling lawn surrounded by hedges, a swimming pool with an adjacent ADU, and the colossal main residence, which sports red tiles and spacious balconies overlooking the courtyard.
