MIAMI (WSVN) – An investigation is underway after a man was seen on video shooting his shotgun from a boat at his Miami Beach home.
It was a blast Thursday in the upscale Lakeview section of Miami Beach.
Video obtained exclusively by 7News showed the man, identified as Patrick Carroll, causally firing his shotgun at the boat while wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
Carroll is a real estate investor who lives in a $16.5 million waterfront mansion.
The 44-year-old man, according to police sources, fired these shots from a boat moored at his home.
In a second video, a second long gun was also seen. The images were originally posted to Carroll’s Instagram account, which is now being used in an investigation by the Miami Beach Police Department, which learned of the Bayside shooting from concerned neighbors.
Police told 7News officers arrived at Carroll’s home on Thursday before being told by him that he was just shooting blanks. They also said a second call was made about Carroll over the weekend, but police did not provide those details.
On his Instagram account this weekend, Carroll appeared to address the shooting.
“I’m going to slow down the posts,” he said. “Mostly negative things about me and, I think, you know, people, you know, think bad things about me. They just have the wrong impression.
Carroll has a large online presence with over a million followers on Instagram.
7News visited Carroll’s home Monday afternoon to get his side of the story, but those at his home would not say if he was home or if he would comment on the ‘incident.
“I’m a loud guy, I’m 6’ 4”, 220. I’m a big guy, right? Carroll said in an Instagram post. “The mistake I made on Instagram, you know, if you call it a mistake, it was just posting too much content. I’m hyper, I’m ADD. It’s just because my life is (expletive) awesome.
Carroll has had run-ins with the law in the past, which included an arrest for battery at a gentlemen’s club.
