Margo Price, 41, musician, recently opened up about her recent plastic surgery. On July 10, she shared on Substack that she underwent sinus surgery, a septoplasty, and a rhinoplasty. These surgeries were caused by years of difficulty breathing, multiple broken noses and constant criticism of her appearance.
Price candidly discussed experiencing chronic cyberbullying. In her post titled ‘Just as big as my nose’, she recounted facing online harassment whenever she expressed political views or appeared on television. She revealed the profound impact it had on her, describing the pain she endured and her occasional desire to withdraw from public life as her career progressed.
Margo struggles with sinus pressure and media messages
Margo went on to say that although she could tolerate appearance-related bullying, the pressure of the bays was excruciating. She revealed that migraines, blurred vision and breathing difficulties from blocked sinuses were significantly affecting both her career and her daily life.
Price stated that she had also written about her early alcohol and drug use, which resulted in her breaking her nose. She stated that at one point, the pressure inside her brain was so great that she thought her eardrum was “going to burst,” only to later discover it was due to blockages and bony spurs.
Reflecting on her decision to undergo surgery, Margo noted with humor that since she was dealing with health issues, she might as well take care of the cosmetic aspects.
Margo recalled how, as a young lady, she absorbed society’s subtle messages conveyed through the media. She expressed her belief that a girl’s worth is often judged by her looks.
She candidly shared her pain of feeling inadequate and described struggling with the belief that she would never make it because of her appearance, particularly her permanently crooked nose. Margot lamented that no amount of makeup, clothes, or hairdo could alleviate her feelings because the issue was right in front of her face.
Price works with two doctors for her procedures
Price revealed that she worked with two doctors, Dr Shawn Nasseri and Dr Jason Champagne, for her procedures. Three months after the operation, she saw significant improvements in her breathing and singing abilities.
She admitted to her initial concerns that her voice might change, but thankfully she reported no noticeable difference. Reflecting on her self-image and acceptance, Price admitted it was a difficult journey to embrace her new look. She realized that getting her nose done didn’t solve everything as she had hoped.
Despite the surgeries, Price candidly stated that she continued to struggle with her mental health. She felt compelled to be open in this fight because she had fans who looked up to her. She found comfort in her loved ones, stressing that music has always been her lifeline and a critical tool in managing her emotions.
