These are no longer cheap punch bowls and corsages.
Students from Booker T. Washington High School turned their prom in Miami, Florida into a true Cinderella moment and their evening is being compared to the Met Gala thanks to their incredibly elaborate outfits.
Much like the annual celebrity bash, students dressed to the nines for their fairytale-themed party last Friday and arrived in style in flashy vehicles like Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, BMW and even a carriage.
As seen in a minute-long TikTok clip published by Camilo Castro, student of Booker T. Washingtonthe spectacular arrival of these dapper teenagers even included a motorcade escorted by police as their family and friends looked on in amazement.
“My friends crashed the ball,” Castro captioned the viral clip with over 3.9 million views.
It’s not unusual for teens to go all out for their annual big night out, but Miami’s youngsters are taking it to the next level. In 2018, a local school brought a live tiger to the festivities. Most recently, Miami Northwestern High School, whose prom took place on May 11, celebrated an evening of “Majestic Beauty,” arriving in Porsches, Lamborghinis and Cybertrucks.
“It’s the norm,” says a teacher told the Miami Herald. “But this course raised the bar a little higher because everyone understood the assignment.”
At the Booker T. Washington event, titled “Once Upon a Time: Does the Shoe Fit?” ”, the well-dressed young people played characters from popular tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Aladdin, the Princess and the Frog and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Even because of their body hair, the students were determined to make their prom a fashion look that even fairy tale characters would have loved to serve.
Some students added small details of the theme into their dresses or tuxedos, while others did more than give fairytale couture at the Met Gala — like one young woman who wore a horn hat with a black dress strapless accessorized with a raven.
A young woman summed up the true princess moment as she arrived at the ball in an all-white pumpkin-shaped carriage with her prince charming.
Her ice blue ball gown looked dazzling as she stepped off the coach and gracefully made her way to the venue before the clock struck midnight.
Another duo, who cosplayed The beauty and the Beast, strutted down the aisle of the ball, the young woman dressed in a dress with feathers and golden beads holding an enchanted red rose. His date stood beside him, appearing fierce in a beast mask while wearing a navy blue suit.
They weren’t the only couple to take the fairytale look seriously.
Little Red Riding Hood came out of the woods to the prom with the Big Bad Wolf as her companion, who wore a wolf mask with his awesome glasses.
The student looked lovely in a red corset dress with a sequined hoodie, like Little Red Riding Hood, and carried a basket of treats to tame the wolf.
Other high school students wore prom-inspired outfits, looking like Tinkerbell, Princess and the Frog, Jafar, Princess Jasmine and Aladdin, stunning the internet with their creativity and dedication.
“These kids KILLED this theme!!!! MET Gala who?? Anna Wintour needs to call them,” a viewer commented.
“GALA MEET!!! I can’t compete with these kids,” added another. “Maleficent (is the) winner.”
Although the prom king and queen weren’t revealed online, everyone went home a winner and lived happily ever after.
