A BLACK British mother has died during a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery in Turkey.
Kaydell Brown, 38, from Sheffield, first inquired about the surgery at Clinic Expert in Istanbul – who suggested she have a “Mummy MOT” – which includes a tummy tuck, liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift.
According to his report ITV News, Kaydell was then bombarded with emails and texts offering discounts on surgeries, flights and accommodation, as well as showing before and after photos of what her body could look like.
The mother-of-two, who worked as a hairdresser, paid £5,4000 to travel to Istanbul with her sister Leanne – who was also due to have the same procedures.
Kaydell went into surgery on March 26 this year and sadly passed away.
Her sister Leanne told the news show: ‘She went into surgery at about 9.30am. and that was the last time I saw her.
“I was in the room waiting for her to come back. I had asked a few times where he was, how long he would be and they kept saying he was coming and then I knocked on the door.
“Three people came in and said, can you come with us please?
“They took me into a room and they just started trying to say, you know, there are complications with surgery, you know things can happen. And I said, “is my sister dead?” And he just said, “I’m sorry, but yes.”
Leanne said her requests to access Kaydell’s body were refused and she was quickly booked on a flight back to the UK from the clinic.
Shockingly, when Kaydell’s body was finally examined by a UK coroner, large parts of her brain, lungs and heart were missing.
“When they brought her body back, they kept pieces of her heart and intestines and that could indicate the cause of death, but we may not know because they are not very cooperative,” Leanne said.
“They sent a death certificate saying no cause of death, how come they can’t find anything?”
ITV News caught up with the Clinic Expert team responsible for Kaydell’s care, who said: “No evidence of organ trauma was found. We handed over the body untouched to the forensic office (in Turkey).”
The news agency also discovered that the surgeon who performed Kaydell’s surgery is still performing the same procedures at other clinics in Turkey.
The clinic also said: “An internal investigation found no negligence and Kaydell’s death was likely caused by fat blocking a blood vessel, which can occur during this type of surgery.”
“Dear Daughter”
A GoFundMe has been set up by Kaydell’s family to raise money for her two sons aged 16 and 12.
In a statement on the fundraising website, the family wrote: “Kaydell died suddenly and very unexpectedly aged 38 on March 26 in Turkey, leaving behind two boys aged 16 and 12.
“Anyone who knew Kay knows that she loved her boys and would always do her best for them.
“I know the unexpected news has touched many people’s hearts, any contributions big or small will make a huge impact on the boys’ future and help the family.
“Kaydell had a huge impact on people throughout her life, she was a good friend, a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin. She was loved by many.
“It’s time to give something back in her honor, to help the boys have a future.”
The GoFundMe has raised over £2000 so far.
