If you want to prove that Murray Bridge is somewhere to get business, look no further than the dental clinic at 34 Bridge Street.
Willem and Mart-Marie Bissett celebrate 10 years as owners of Bridge Dental this year.
In that time, they have grown the practice beyond their wildest dreams, to the point where it provides more extensive services than many clinics in Adelaide.
“When we started … people said no, it’s not going to work, Murray Bridge people won’t care,” Willem said.
“But people in Murray Bridge and surrounding areas want good service and good quality work and are willing to pay for it if it saves them having to travel to Adelaide.”
In addition to general dental services – with an emphasis on providing patients with a friendly, gentle experience – Bridge Dental provides:
-
Denture services, including an on-site dentist and fabrication lab
-
Surgical services for patients who require invasive tooth extraction
-
Dental implants to replace missing teeth
-
Restoration work: crowns and bridges
-
Cosmetic work: veneers, teeth whitening and even anti-wrinkle treatments
Because the practice has an on-site dentist and laboratory, all dentures and most crowns and bridges can be made in Murray Bridge, saving patients from having to attend appointments in Adelaide.
This also means that treatment can often be delivered in one day, rather than two appointments a week apart. and getting dentures usually only takes three visits, where it used to be six.
The Bridge Dental team has access to the latest 3D modeling and printing technology.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company and its staff even turned their hands manufacture of disposable face masks.
When the Bissetts moved from South Africa to Australia just over a decade ago, they could never have predicted how central they would become in their local community.
When they first arrived, Mart-Marie worked in Mount Gambier while Willem studied in Adelaide.
Transferred to Murray Bridge when work became available here. shortly thereafter the practice was put up for sale and the rest is history.
The couple have lived in the area ever since and Bridge Dental has become an employer of choice whose staff – including six contract dentists – have all been there for several years.
This means consistency in patient care and better outcomes for the community.
The clinic has grown to four times its original size, doubled its workforce and serves patients from as far afield as Swan Reach, Pinnaroo and Bordertown.
“We never thought (Bridge Dental) would be this big,” Willem said.
“It’s definitely grown beyond our expectations.”
