Can I be honest? I don’t really gag for Miami Swim Week like that. I think it’s not the most influential place to discover swimwear trends. I categorize swimwear less as a fashion category and more as a lifestyle category. But it is indeed Miami Swim Week 2024, and I needed to tune in.
Here’s my thing. I think that swimwear is influenced by movies about European holidays and music videos and television shows and Coachella. I treat it as differently from traditional fashion because it has to exist in a location, as a special edition look to your wardrobe. We know how many people kind of get whole new wardrobes when they go on beachy vacations. A true glamorous swim-centric wardrobe is about going to the beach and then wearing something over it that’s easy to put in a beach bag because you need to get oysters and Aperol Spritzes with a hottie you met at the club the night before. And I think the culture surrounding swimwear runway shows is that so rarely are the garments that they show meant for a real life context.
Luckily, I enlisted the help of the StyleCaster editors to chat about what stood out to us at Miami Swim Week.

Leslie Amon
I used to think all crochet or knitted coverups looked pretty much the same until I laid eyes on this beauty. The vibrant colors mixed with the seashells and starfish make this coverup unlike any of the run-of-the-mill, basic options on the market, and to me, it’s giving “island girl aesthetic.” This number might even convince me to take more sartorial risks by incorporating playful colors and patterns into my neutral-heavy summer wardrobe. Side note: An eye-catching coverup like this one would look SO good on an Insta grid. – Katie Decker-Jacoby, Associate E-Commerce Editor
The thing that makes swimwear special isn’t the swimsuits—it’s the cover-ups. And Leslie Amon’s Miami Swim Week show was full of gems. This crochet maxi dress is sleek, striking, and versatile—the kind of thing you could wear to the beach or on a night out. If I owned it, I can just about guarantee I’d wear it every week this summer. –Lindsey Lanquist, StyleCaster Contributing Editor
I think by now, I’ve made it clear how I feel about animal print. It’s sexy. It’s true glamour. It’s got a kinda dirty, gritty, party girl vibe to it that I legitimately cannot get enough of. I’m glad it’s back. I know we’re disputing if Mob Wife Aesthetic is a real trend or a fake trend or a fake trend that became a real trend, but either way, I salute the mob wives and their commitment to the true glamourous lifestyle. Thank you, ladies. — Aamina Inayat Khan, Trending Style Writer

Mahogany Coast
Lately, rosettes have been giving the coquette bow a run for its money. I’ve personally been opting for rosettes and think they’re more fitting for the warmer months. With this one-piece, I love the contrast between the black suit and the white flower detail. The good thing about this simple B&W colorway is that it gives the wearer a ton of freedom to accessorize and add pops of color. — Katie Decker-Jacoby, Associate E-Commerce Editor

Avisa Swimwear
I’ve been waiting for glitter swimsuits to take off since I saw them on Love Island two summers ago. The number of glitter swimsuits at the Avisa Swimwear show makes me think the moment is finally here. I’m already stocking my shopping cart with shimmery swimwear—Shopbop and Free People have some especially enticing options. –Lindsey Lanquist, StyleCaster Contributing Editor
It’s Now Cool The Crop Bikini Top
This colorblock glitter swimsuit from Free People is an absolute delight. I love that the top is sky blue and the bottoms are blue-gray. And the combination of a pullover top with high-waisted, high-cut bottoms is one of my favorites. (The swimsuit also comes in gold if you prefer a warmer palette.)Oseree Lumire Sporty 90s Set
This glitter-knit two-piece comes in a pretty shade of pink, and Oseree sells a similar set in lime green. Both sets include a pullover top and pull-on bottoms, so you don’t have to worry about closures digging into your skin while you lounge in the sun. -

I’m not big on neon swimsuits, but I love a good sage green color. This light green bikini is adorable and it’s especially perfect if you frequent black swimsuits like I do and want a pop of color. —Kleigh Balugo, Trending Beauty Writer

AXIL Swim
Listen, I love a full look. I love the black and white. I know this outfit has little to nothing to do with swimwear, but I don’t really care. The scoop neckline is a perfect thing to show off tanlines. I love the black silky skirt, and the slit is perfect. — Aamina Inayat Khan, Trending Style Writer
I know bows are a little overdone lately, but this cute bow detail is really selling me. It gives the super simple bikini top a touch of coquette flare without going over the top. — Kleigh Balugo, Trending Beauty Writer
