Guerdy Abraira tells her story of overcoming breast cancer.
In an interview with Us every week“The Housewives of Miami” star discussed her health journey since her first diagnosis in March and how she now has a new life.
According to Abraira, she “feels great” after the special moment of the bell ringing marking her final round of chemotherapy in October.
This moment was liberating.
“It was a release of… all this worrying energy that I had and just this, ‘What if this?’ and “What if this?” And I felt so free,” she explained. “It was so freeing to be myself again and a new version of myself. So now it’s kind of like I don’t take any bullshit from anyone anymore. No BS from anyone, no more. This should be my new slogan: “I don’t take any nonsense from anyone. »
She also lets go of “what no longer serves me,” explaining: “It allows me to be much more transparent in what I feel and not internalize the misfortunes of others. So most of the time I felt like I was a fixer. So I was like, ‘Oh no, I’ll take care of it for you.’ I will help you with this. And then you take on this stress for what purpose? For what?”
Today, she’s getting back into the swing of things, one day at a time.
“Health-wise, to be honest, I feel almost back to myself,” she told the outlet.
“Yes, the steroids – I gained a few pounds, 15 to be exact. But you know what? Which matters, because I’m alive. I am doing well and am now a breast cancer survivor. So, I have to count my blessings.
Additionally, she applies her newfound wisdom to “be a little selfish.”
“It was a really, honestly, hard thing to do, but now I do it really well,” she added.
Abraira allowed cameras to follow her health story on season 6 of RHOM, a decision made with her husband Russell Abrairawith whom she shares sons Miles14, and Liam9 with.
“Russell was behind me one hundred percent. And boy, was he there like a bear,” she said. “He was 1,000 percent more than I thought he could even be. So it was really amazing and I know I’m lucky to have him as my goalie.
