Reference overview
The global mastopexia market The size was valued at USD 1.30 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.7% from 2022 to 2030. The growth of the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for improved aesthetic appearance among of women. The key market players have introduced hi-tech devices for better surgeries and ultimate customer satisfaction. In addition, the growing medical tourism in some countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Mexico is boosting the demand for cosmetic breast augmentation.
In the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, the growth of the mastopexy market was affected as there was a significant decrease in elective procedures, especially cosmetic procedures. The pandemic posed typical challenges for breast augmentation or reconstruction surgeries. Many organizations initially placed restrictions on these surgeries, prompting surgeons and cosmetic clinics to devise innovative protocols. Although these procedures were initially stopped by most plastic surgeons, they resumed in the later stages of the pandemic.
Developing healthcare infrastructure and rising income levels in developing countries such as China, India, and Brazil are contributing to the growing demand for cosmetic breast lift surgery. A breast lift procedure can be more expensive than a breast implant. The cost of breast lift procedures ranges from USD 9,000 to USD 16,000. On the other hand, the cost of breast implants ranges from USD 6,000 to USD 12,000. Silicone implants were used in 84% and saline implants in 16% of all breast augmentations in 2020 (down 33% from 2019).
Considering age as one of the segments in breast lift surgery, it has been noted that about 40% of the total surgery is performed for the age group of 40-54 years, followed by 27% of the total surgery for the age group of 30-39 years. Breast lift among teenagers is down 23% compared to 2019 (in 2020 the total procedures performed were 1,006) in the U.S. Breast lift is also done for those who lose weight suddenly. The number of people having a mastopexy after sudden weight loss fell by 16% from 13,050 in 2019 to 10,972 in 2020.
Technical information

The full mastopexy procedure is performed in cases of breast sagging, which is mainly seen in older women. Mastopexy is also performed on breast cancer patients to remove overgrown tissue. During the procedure, surgeons tend to remove excess or extra tissue present around the breast to improve the aesthetic appearance of patients.
The Benelli-lollipop lift segment is expected to register the fastest CAGR of 7.2% during the forecast period from 2022 to 2030. It is also known as vertical lift or vertical mastopexy. This procedure uses the natural tissue that is already there and reshapes and tightens it to form a more balanced contour.

Additionally, increasing affordability and shorter recovery times have resulted in higher adoption of independent practices, thus leading to an increase in the number of cosmetic clinics. On the other hand, few hospitals have the ability to perform cosmetic procedures, as highly qualified doctors with special skills and high-tech devices and equipment are required.
