Beauty and lifestyle influencer Amira announced on March 22, 2024 that she had undergone four corrective surgeries after losing 45 pounds. It was initially almost 140 kg, but over time, the number drastically reduced within a few months.
After losing the weight, Amira revealed that she intended to have corrective surgery to shape her body. and celebrated that she was finally able to do them after publicly searching for a professional cosmetic surgeon who could handle what she needed.
“Finally I made it… Alhamdulillah my operation was successful. I am very swollen and sore, but I have the best care and love. I will share my healing journey hopefully soon. I had breast lift, thigh lift, liposuction and tummy tuck. I know it’s a lot,” Amira said in several Instagram stories while recovering and attached to surgical tubes.
Nairobi News now explains what operations Amira had:
- Breast lift- According to the American leading Mayo Clinic, a breast lift is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon to change the shape of the breasts. During this surgery, a surgeon removes excess skin and reshapes the breast tissue to lift the breasts. This procedure is also known as mastopexy. One may choose to have this surgery if their breasts are perky or nipples point down. Risks involved in this surgery include scarring, changes in nipple and breast sensation, uneven breast shape and size, partial or total loss of nipples or nipples, and difficulty breastfeeding. At the end of the day, however, surgery is known to boost self-image and confidence.
- Thighoplasty- According to the Mayo Clinic, a thigh lift is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the thigh area to create smoother skin and contour your thighs and lower body.
- Liposuction- The Mayo Clinic describes liposuction as a procedure to absorb fat from specific areas of the body such as the stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, or neck. Liposuction changes the shapes of these areas with a process called contouring. It is not a procedure that is considered as a general method of loss or an alternative to losing weight. “When you gain weight, fat cells grow. Liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in a specific area. The amount of fat removed depends on the appearance of the area and the volume of fat. The resulting changes in shape are usually permanent as long as your weight stays the same,” the Mayo Clinic explained. Risks include contour irregularities where your skin may appear uneven, wavy or shriveled. fluid accumulation in temporary skin pockets, numbness, infection, internal organ puncture, fat embolism, kidney and heart problems
- Tummy tuck- A tummy tuck, popularly known as a mummy makeover, is a cosmetic procedure done to improve the shape and appearance of the abdomen. Excess skin and fat are removed from the abdominal area, connective tissues are tightened with stitches, and the remaining skin is repositioned to create a more toned appearance. The Mayo Clinic adds that this procedure can be done if someone has excess fat or skin around the abdominal area or a weak lower abdominal wall. Risks involved include fluid accumulation under the skin, poor wound healing, unexpected scarring, deep tissue damage, and changes in skin sensation.
