A trip to Turkey for a dazzling teeth makeover is something of a right of passage for any reality star, and their young followers can’t wait to follow in their footsteps for that Hollywood smile.
But the kind of invasive dental work that requires cutting permanently ruins your smile and leaves you needing dentures by age 40, dentists have warned.
Post on Tik TokDr S Manouchehri from London, explained that many people don’t know the differences between veneers that are attached to the front of the teeth and more invasive crowns, which require the teeth to be ground down so that the entire structure can be covered.
He warned that the irreversible process of shaving teeth on pegs to get crowns at a young age could lead to the need for dentures by the age of 40.
Her concerns about the increasingly popular trend were echoed by Dr Emi Mawson from Cornwall, who also posted a clip warning her followers about the dangers of copying stars such as Katie Price.

Dr S Manouchehri started her video with footage of an influencer showing the before and after results of traveling to Turkey to transform her teeth.
Warning followers, she wrote: “First of all these are not veneers, they are full coverage crowns. If you’ve seen my previous video, you’ll know that shaving your teeth down to the pegs will damage the nerve.
“You will need a root canal and extraction at some point in your life. Second point, veneers or crowns should be replaced every 10-15 years usually.
“She’s a lovely young woman now, I think she’s about 18, 19 at the most, and she’ll need to replace them probably four or five times in her lifetime, if not more.

The dentist added that veneers and crowns must be replaced every 10-15 years, which is a financial and biological burden. Pictured: Influencers sharing their transformations
“It will not only be the financial burden, but also the biological burden because the teeth cannot be prepared and re-prepared every time.
“Well, she’s a lovely young lady and she’s probably ruined her teeth for the rest of her life and will have dentures, until she’s 40.
“I personally wouldn’t choose that, would you?”
Dr Emi Mawson shared pictures of Katie Price in her video as she explained that the star had crowns and not veneers.
He posted photos of veneers to explain that the teeth are not filed as hard as needed for crowns.
“Veneers are much less irritating to the teeth,” he explained.
Dr. Emi said it is faster and requires less skill for dentists to make crowns than veneers.
He continued: “Once your teeth are on the stump, there’s no going back. Please, if you want cosmetic dental treatment, find a reputable, minimally invasive dentist.
“Remember that price usually reflects the quality and skill of the dentist.”
Many responses to the videos admitted they didn’t know the impact of the treatments and praised dentists for speaking up.

One person wrote: “I was going to get veneers to match the two crowns I need for my front top, but these videos have convinced me otherwise. Thanks’
“FINALLY someone said it. I’m a dentist and seeing people do this kills my soul! Please stop! Your teeth are SO precious,” said another.
A third wrote: “Glad to see this. My jaw is growing and my teeth are not coming together and I was thinking about getting it. I will embrace what I have now”
